Oh, of course it was karples that had the trademark. Nevermind then, but it would mean that he would have to oppose the creation of the TLD, which I don't think he would do.

I think the dot.btc is best, nice and short and not to confusing when you allreade have bitcoin in your domainname.

dot.HODL  could be nice too Smiley

.coin would be best IMO

That could be misleading, and non related to bitcoin. It could be .crypto, but that is also vague.

.BTC is the best

And then we can know how many bitcoin related sites are there.

TLDs aren't made for micro-niches. The market has to be large enough for it to be worth the cost of running the registry including the fees that you have to pay ICANN. So we want a TLD for all crypto currencies not just bitcoin. While bitcoin is the most successful today there remains the possibility that some other alt coin will come that will supersede bitcoin in the future. Besides .coin can be used for digital currencies outside the crypto space too.

Personally I like the idea of a bit.coin, btc.coin, news.coin or something.coin. The possibilities for nice domain names are greater IMO.

If you put it like that, i have to agree. We cannot know what the future of bitcoin might hold, a .coin for now would be perfect.

Later if bitcoin would really become global, then a .btc could come too!

I voted for .btc
Using .btc is very straight forward and 3 letters is better than the whole name itself
I hope this will be available soon and might update my domain to .btc instead of .com

I prefer dot.btc because it's simple. I think bitcoin TLD isn't a good idea because many governments banned bitcoin, so any of TLD about bitcoin will be added to block list Sad.

I'm pretty sure OP's application, if serious, for a bitcoin gTLD would be rejected, if it gets this far, it would, probably, stop here:

3.2.1 Grounds for Objection

Legal Rights Objection – The applied-for gTLD string
infringes the existing legal rights of the objector.

Community Objection – There is substantial opposition to
the gTLD application from a significant portion of the
community to which the gTLD string may be explicitly or
implicitly targeted.

Regarding the Legal Rights Objection : .xxx domain has been introduced in the www even though pornography is illegal in many countries of the world. I don't think bitcoin has been mass opposed by world's governments. There exist certain regulations in some countries and banned in a very few countries. But in most of them the status of bitcoin is yet unknown.

It is not necessary that .xxx is used to host pornographic websites only
