What the actual fuck ..  Shocked

Diamond, which is believed to be an online alias of an unknown corrupt FBI agent, has been threatening to kill Silk Road Architect Variety Jones and torture Ross Ulbricht’s mother and sister to obtain the password to an encrypted bitcoin wallet containing over 300,000 BTC or US$70 million which previously belonged to Ulbricht, the creator of the Silk Road.

Diamond believed that Variety Jones, with his involvement in creating the Silk Road could help him gain access to the funds. “He wants me to move to Singapore, where he can set up a safe house and know that I'm clear of the clutches of the DOJ,” claimed Jones on the MyPlantGanja forum.

Furthermore, Jones claims that Diamond provided classified information about the Silk Road investigation ahead of time, specifically about former special agents Carl Mark Force IV and Shaun Bridges, to U.S. law enforcement officials charged for moving the seized funds during the Silk Road investigation to their private bitcoin and bank accounts. Since only high ranking members of the FBI have the power and authority over this type of information, the information on the two agents convinced Jones to believe that Diamond is an FBI official.

He continued:

Quote
“I wasn't taking him serious in the beginning, and even once I realized he was who he said, and he was amassing millions of dollars in ill gotten gains, it wasn't until he started obsessing on the kidnappings, that I realized I had a lunatic on my hands. A lunatic highly placed in the FBI, with a massive off the books private budget, who thought that kidnapping and torture were the solution to his problems, and he starting to get a few other screws loose, as well. I do know how to pick my enemies.”

If they touched his family this guy would be easily destroyed...his life would vanish. I don't think Ulbrecht has much to worry about.

I don't think VJ himself was ever threatened, though he did not trust meeting the agent for fear of his life. If it's true I hope this cop gets busted.

Scary to know the law enforcers are so easily drawn by criminal behaviour if they see a profit. Blackmail and threatening to kill of a family are sick thoughts for any sane person. Hope they catch this bastard and lock him up for good. Also hope this is just a lunatic and not the standard profiling for all FBI agents.

Mr Jones himself sums this up nicely - http://myplanetganja.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11022&start=150#p144187

The gist is that if you have sublime computer skills you can go to silicon valley and make millions or work for the government for peanuts. I guess plenty of people who took the peanut option might be open to going rogue what with all that extra power.

I am interested to see if anything ever comes of this, although I have my doubts about the story being true.

I think his story might be an effort to install reasonable doubt in Ross's case.

It also appears that VOJ was claiming to be in Jail as of when he was supposedly helping Ross with SR....

I think a few years down the line when everything has popped out it will be one of the world's weirdest and most epic tales of intrigue, even more so than it is now. No idea about this particular detail but no doubt there's plenty more to come.

I think $70 million is enough money to kill anyone if you are corrupted bastard like some people.
Some poor men were killed for much less so it is not so strange to receive death threats over such fortune.
But in reality I don't think it is for real, I see it more like a tool to scary Ulbricht and nothing more.

I think Variety Jones just wants this corrupt FBI agent was busted by an Internal Investigation or something like that.
No way a stupid corrupt cop could be a threat to such an exquisite mind as VJ.

You look at things like this and you think... Is this a movie? This cannot be real.. until you become the target of this. Ulbricht and BurtW family has been drawn into the dark web of lies.

We think we are safe, when law enforcement cross our paths, but it's not true for everyone. Every organization has their bad apples, and you are just lucky, if your path do not cross

one of them. One or two bad apples, do not spoil the whole basket... Our local police force, also has some bad apples, but the majority are good people, with good intentions.  Sad

I guess if VJ is unable to dox this agent than he knows how to cover his ass, but there are only so many agents working the case. Is there such a thing as "internal affairs" in the FBI? If they have a rouge agent I'm sure they'd like to shut him down. That is assuming the whole beurae isn't corrupt

There are millions of dollars at stake so there are some people that would go to extreme measures to get that money.

This is the biggest reason that this might actually be true. Think of what mankind would do for 70 million USD...

Although it should be quite easy to actually find out who the corrupt agent is and after that it wouldn't be too hard to track him. 70 million gets you a long way, but is it worth the life on the run?

What if Ross really sold the site to an yet unknown person and this person continued to use the DPR moniker?
What if Ross doesn't have control over this 300k wallet and this Diamond guy only thinks that Ross has the password?
What if PoM's whole story is made up for a reason, that we still don't know?

It's sad to see what people will do for money. Unfortunately no amount of improvements on the money system will solve this. No matter if we are trading goods, gold, fiat paper or Bitcoin, people will still do evil things for money. We need improvement in human soul and not only in the actual system in which money works. It's disgusting to hear he will torture people to get some sad BTCs and it's even more frustrating when he is supposedly an FBI guy.

Let's say humanity has evolved beyond war and greed and live out peaceful lives as we're busy being loving and productive.

Then one human is born who wants it all and decides they're going to take it. Others decide they're not keen on that idea. Cue house of cards collapsing.

We'll have to wait until we're replaced by androids until there's a just society.

Ross said, he was tricked back to log in as an Admin at a time when he had nothing to do with the site anymore.

Yah.

Sure.
Ross did not even say this, his attorney did during opening arguments, and his attorney was not under oath when this was said, so IMO very little weight should be given to this claim IMO.

I honestly think the chances of Ross being tricked *back* to Sr as being pretty close to zero.

Even if this was true, then I am fairly certain that Ross would still be guilty of the majority of the crimes that he was charged with, except maybe the kingpin statue.

If it was somehow determined that Ross was ticked into coming back to SR then his chances of receiving a pardon would probably increase. If you ignore the murder for hire allegations against Ross, then what he/SR1 did was really not all that bad.....he allowed people to make additional informed choices about what to put in their bodies, and he caused drug related violence to decrease as a result of SR1. If you take the above facts and the crimes that Ross was charged with in NY, then I think it would be fair to say that what Ross did was really not all that bad and should probably not be in jail/prison. It would be fairly easy to say that Ross would be deserving of a pardon.

However if there is any substance to the allegation that Ross ordered the murder of 5 people, 3 of which were most likely innocent (I do not know with certainty one way or another if there is substance behind this allegation), then it is much more difficult to argue that Ross should be a free man, and that what he did was not bad. It if very difficult to argue that someone who (there is substantial evidence that) has ordered the killing of others should be released from prison. I acknowledge that Ross may have been manipulated into making this decision by potentially Law Enforcement Officers who were attempting to personally profit, however this kind of behavior is nearly impossible to excuse.

IMO no one is just born with an idea in his head. Any idea finds a way to your mind through the education you receive. That's why most of the people of North Korea  regard Kim Jong-un as a god, and that's why so many people in Western countries regard money as god.

So, yes, we do need improvement in human soul or else we'll be replaced by more efficient lifeforms. )

I believed it at first...but how do we explain him being in prison with an iPhone 4? This was when he would have been helping Ross with Silk Road as someone pointed out. Did he borrow his friend's phone to access SR and talk to Ross? I don't get it. There are a few other flaws I found but can't remember at the moment.

Do you guys believe this story? If not, why do you think VJ would make it up, assuming it's really him that posted it?

Just intrigued by the whole thing..

I do believe it. FBI are ruthless group of individuals who stop at nothing to get what ever they are after at any costs.
Like the mafia but backed by their government, so unlimited funds to do what ever they are after.

FBI probably planted it on him to see what he would do and who he would contact. Ever watch The Wire on tv? That's what the cops do to get intel. You don't think thee FBI would do that, since they are the intelligence agency of the entire country. They are ruthless as I said before.

Gotcha. I didn't know that much about it...guess only time will tell. I'll be curious to see if anything ever comes out of it.

I'm the one that exposed Curtis Green as a serial liar, and he hasn't been back to this forum since: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045937.0 Ironically, Leroy Fodor is gleaning passages from this thread pertaining to a blog administered by Joshua Zipkin in trying to curtail my investigation into Cryptsy. This is insane. I'd like to hope it is all idle threats. I know some Feds can be corrupt but surely nobody would carry out this threat, surely?

There are millions of dollars at stake so there are some people that would go to extreme measures to get that money.

That's whats most frightening; anyone who manages to get those coins has a chance of doing so with little risk of being caught. I believe this is only
one of the attacks he will have in regards to that wallet. When the story spreads, there's going to be a lot more lunatics after those funds.

I don't really think that this is a big threat to Ulbricht. A man as rich as him, friggin US$70 mil, would have gotten a lot of these kind of threats before. If that guy even touches anyone related to Ulbricht, he is a dead man.

WOW, talk about insult to injury. I think the FBI has jumped the shark on this one, they've lost control, lost their swagger, their power. They need to leave these people alone because the FBI is Fucked Beyond Incompetence on this case!

Cops and robbers are two sides of the same coin.  Their thinking is not too far removed from one another.  They both have the same goals in mind; they just approach those goals from different angles.  Cops become cops because they enjoy the danger, the violence, and the thrill of the chase....and so do the robbers.  Doesn't surprise me at all...they get away with far, far more than one would believe.  That's why we need a decentralized system...our governments are corrupt beyond any repair.

I don't want to believe this. It is not this the behavior that must have an civil servant. If he has evidence of this fact he can process them in the court and send them to jail (and there maybe there will be them whom will talk to not do the jail). But to threatening that is excessively. Then if all the story would be known (as it is actually) he cannot do nothing even if them can be guilty. Because there will be them to process him and maybe even win the the court case. The conclusion: no only lack of money but even punishment.

The thing I'm still wondering is how did this wallet with 300k bitcoins only get noticed by this one FBI agent during the SR investigation?

Assuming this is true and that it really exists, does the fact that it's encrypted make it invisible to everyone else? The largest wallet I've seen online supposedly is 150k bitcoins.

Was Ross' 144k bitcoin wallet not encrypted? Was the 300k one the true safe haven? If so why would he have so many in his 144k wallet that could easily be discovered.

I'm still skeptical of the whole thing between this and VJ being in prison during the running of SR.
