What would you think of a hard fork to a new POW algorithm?  Scrypt has a higher barrier of entry than gpu only algos.  I think Lyra2REv2 (what Vert and Mona use) would make this an awesome coin.

A alternative algo like Lyra2REv2 would be pretty great actually, it's a cool algo and not a ton of coins are on it currently.

What about cutting out POW altogether and being pure POS? Comments?

Nope, no problems. Merely talking about things. No plans for any immediate changes.

I think it would be a good idea because then people can't hit the PoW with huge asic hashrates.  Fairer distribution of PoW will make more people interested in this coin.

There are only 4 coins on Lyra2REv2 that I know about.  Vert, Mona, MobileCash, and LyraBar.  Vert and Mona are both large cap coins that forked to this algo.  LyraBar is a small cap coin sold only on c-cex with no volume there today.  MobileCash is the most interesting new Lyra2REv2, because it is an AUXPOW coin, but it is only sold on c-cex.  MobileCash (MBL) gets merge mined when mining VTC or MONA on xpool.ca pool and you can set a deposit address for it if you edit account settings and sign the message with the settings that it gives you with your windows wallet that has your account address.

The biggest problem with MobileCash is that it has a huge premine so no other exchanges will list it.  I think that forking G3N to be Lyra2REv2 and enabling AUXPOW would make this coin very interesting.

sorry, since when lyrabar is lyra v2 ?
zoom is lyra v2

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=939208.msg12584840#msg12584840  I was pretty sure the fork to v2 was done but it looks like it is just a work in progress at the moment.

Thanks for letting me know about Zoom.  This looks to be a pure PoW coin as well.  I think it would be pretty cool to have a PoW/PoS Lyra2REv2 coin.  It might be better if that coin wasn't merge mined, but if it was PoW blocks would still be found no matter what the coin price is.  Any thoughts?

Let's get the new graphics setup for the wallets and logo and the new website up and running. Then we can discuss future plans/directions. Hopefully by this weekend logo and graphics will be completed.

Maybe if a fork were to be done to a different PoW algorithm, the PoW/PoS distribution could be changed so that a higher percentage of blocks that are PoS are found then currently.  That way people who are currently staking will only benefit.  I suggested Lyra2REv2 only because I can mine that with my $50 video card and get a decent amount of coins.  I don't currently own any but G3N, but I like HORT because he is a nice guy.  Right now I wouldn't buy into any PoW/PoS coin that uses scrypt for PoW because I don't own a 300 MH/s ASIC, and I would buy some to stake if the algo was changed.  New people coming into the coin will be a good thing, and changing the algo to something that can be mined with GPU would probably encourage new people to join other than just me.

It's pretty annoying, I have a GEN deposit pending there since weeks and wrote several mails to yobit support but never got a reply.

Yes, new people coming into the coin would be extremely beneficial, however, forking a coin is not a fun adventure. It is a lot of work. I am not saying it won't be done, just not in the coming weeks.

OK, thanks. I put in several requests as well to get wallet back online as well as update the links with the new coin info. Hopefully it won't take too long.

How many coins do you have there stuck? I can send you that amount until they are clear. You can send them back to me once cleared.
