He is wrong the going price for an S5 standard is 300$ with shipping included, that and the location they are in could definitely have moisture in the air and have damaged some of the hardware.

I understand that it looks horrible on the picture I took, but actually the miners are located in the attic, not in the cellar, so there is no excessive moisture there.

Depends where you sell it.  Ebay looks like 350 is doable but there is lots of fees.  On forum it is going to be more along the 300.

Only possible way he get's 500 is if he's in a country with huge vat/import tax (some are 25 precent which is crazy).  In these high vat areas I could see 400+ pretty easy.

Yes, he's in Ukraine where vat/import tax stands at 20 percent as far as I know. He says that he already checked local forums and knows for sure that he can easily sell s5 for 400+, but he's looking for $500. )

In my home country, ENGLAND, they are charging 20% vat on electronic goods. I don't think you have to pay VAT on resail as you already paid it on purchase!

No, of course not! Nobody is going to pay VAT again.  Smiley

The talk was about that if in a country the VAT is as big as 20% and more it will be possible to sell used s5 for 400+ because the imported ones will cost more.

It's a shame neither the S5/S7 can be used in a home environment.

that's why i was asking for something that resemble a mini s7, half of its haspower to cut the power to 600 and still have a better efficienfy than the s5

most apartment have only 3k  and at least 2 are there for the washing machine, actually it is 2500 of peak for that only

I think you can keep wishing on that.  But miners are only going to get more powerful and bigger I think as general rule. (Yes there will be some smaller ones like sidehacks pods, or U series of BM).

But as a general rule you can see that BM's miners are getting larger and taking more power.  I predict 220/240 becomes more needed for hobby miners.  And "home" miners are kinda going to have a harder time finding gear.

that's unfortunate, i'm hoping that in the future, some small very efficient miners will be released for us, that can't build a huge farm

if you think about it this would contribute to decentralization and helping the network to grow

I think you can hope and there will be some small miners.  But compare that small miner to a SP50  (whenever it is released).  That 100 GH, or 200, etc seems like a drop in the bucket.

Gear will get more efficient but also bigger in terms of hash and most likely power usage.  Look at S7 vs S5 design.   I think "hobby miners" with areas for it will do fine with it.  "Home Miners" with counting on putting it in a regular room will have harder and harder time.

If you are asking for a smaller version of the s7 or s5. Why don't you go to hashnest.com where bitmain have placed thousands of s7s and s5s. You can purchase part s of the miners and pay a percentage in maintenance costs. Hashnest is also part of the bitmain family so they cannot run away with your money!

People love to play with hardware.  Including me I love the hardware that is part of my fun as a miner.

I suspect you are right tough.  As miners get bigger "home miners" who are wanting small will have to look more at other options then hosting at their house.  "Hobby Miners" I think will be fine.  I consider hobby miners one with a area for mining with proper electricity.

i don't like how they maintanance fee at the end far exceed what they seems to offer, and what seems to be very profitable at first glance

then you look at the maintanance and suddenly your roi double...it's like they take profit even on that, because with their cheap electricity i'm sure they can cut on that fee..

This is in Bulgaria and I'm not sure what did they mean by the price "5800лв"

5800 Bulgarian Lev = 2,963 Euro

Even if it is for 3 miners looks a bit high for used s5

I think they are mistakenly put extra zero in the price and it's actually 580 Bulgarian Lev (296 Euro)  for one s5 which looks reasonable.

Solo miners ,wont be buying a bigger miner ,the investment on new equipment is bigger as the hash it has,i doubt even big farmers will turn off their miners to buy the new miners that are coming, even being more efficient, the investment involved to make a farm with anohter miners is huge.I would buy any miner above what i can afford to invest at bitcoin, lets say i can invest 500 dollars montly and the new miner cost is 20k dollars .. i wont buy it never... even knowing i can be able to roi in a year or two... its a huge investment, that most miners hasnt to try luck.

Yes, thanks for correcting me. Those are not 3 S5's but S5+ indeed.

On bitmain's site the price for the new S5+ is 2307 USD now so it is still uncertain why do they want 2,963 Euro for the used one.

If Europe I'm guessing due to vat.  A lot of countries over there have some high import tax/vat.  it can be huge on a 2k+ miner.

But yea prices are so high on vat you can see in thread some complain about Bitmain on S7's putting true value (which should be done obviously).  But you will see a trend of some people trying to get miners sent low value or as parts or such to try to not pay vat.

Some are 20+ percent if you get into some of the crazy countries on vat.   I personally don't understand it but that is how it works with some countries.
