ISIS jihadis shave their beards, dress up as women to escape from Russian bombs

ISIS fighters are reportedly shaving their beards and dressing up as women in order to flee Syria, in the wake of Russia stepping up its military campaign in support of President Bashar al-Assad.
Pictures said to have been taken near Aleppo last week shows mounds of what looks like cut off facial hair, alongside discarded packets of razors.
In order to cross the border to Turkey undetected, ISIS jihadists are said to be shaving and disguising themselves in niqabs - a veil covering all but the eyes worn by some muslim women.

Mixed news coming in from Aleppo (North Syria). The ISIS jihadis partially seized a crucial highway, which was acting as one of the supply routes for regime soldiers fighting in that city. On the other hand, the Syrian Army is advancing towards the Kuweiris Air Force Base, which has been besieged by the ISIS for the past 30 months. According to the latest reports, the regime forces are only 4 km away from breaking the siege.

I don't think they control everyone's identity. Syria is a big desert. Journalists can "easily" pass on Islamic State's "territory" without meeting anyone from IS nor citizens. I think the same thing is happening in West-Syria, especially because they're too busy these times to do police job.

If that is the case,then their is no point in removing ones beard and disguising as women.Moreover most arabs sport beard.It is not specific to isis they can easily mix up with locals with beard also

I agree that there will always be civilian casualties in any war, but let's not kid ourselves, just because ISIS is bad doesn't mean Assad isn't. By all accounts he released alot of the Jihadis from prison to make competition for the moderate free Syrian army (which is probably safe to say in its final death throes( and considering his dad totally flattened the city of Hama in 1982, what makes you think he hasn't been doing the same?

People that die is not a problem at all. What is really a crime is that stupid guys that have no culture destroy antic monuments such as Palmyra. Compare the life a Syrian and an antic monument : what is the most important ? That's indeed the monument. The same thing applies for 10, 100, 1 000, 10 000 Syrians. They're nothing compared to the historical treasure that these monuments represent.

For the ISIS and the Al Nusra jihahdis, it is a no-brainer. Why risk the Russian bombs in Syria, when they can have free housing and welfare payments in the European Union?
