Luka Doncic did all he can, people who keep calling him not doing his best are not realizing how much work load he gets on offense, which means his defense may lack a bit. Warriors kept Curry not defending anyone for many years while they won all those rings, so it's understandable.

Dallas needs to get some amazing defender to help both Kyrie and Luka, because it feels like that is what they are missing right now, if they had some amazing defender then they wouldn't have all of these issues. In the end, we are seeing them doing whatever they can and that is a good thing, they were at the finals. Boston winning in 08 and 24 is also a great meme these days, it's such a big Kobe hate thing and funny to see as well, if Kobe was still alive he would have laughed but be annoyed as well.

It was a completely deserved victory for Boston Celtics. I have nothing to say against that. I just got disappointed by the way Dallas Mavericks played the final series. They just can't get good contribution from all the players. Doncic and Irving can carry this team until a certain point. After that it is all about teamwork to win. I thought they would be competitive and even go for the championship. Boston Celtics became champions after 16 years which is extra special for them.  Smiley

It's the overall system that they need to change, not to bash Kyrie, but he was so inconsistent not just in this series, but all throughout the playoff and it was all Luka that carries the team to the finals. And then PJ Washington disappeared in the finals, it's understandable that he played defense, but his long three's are not here in the series and he looks soft against Boston. While in the series against the Wolves, he has the fire in him, tenacity and even flexing his muscles like Lebron.

Probably a good role players who can shoot three's like Paxson and Steve Kerr like player. And they have like a lot of forward/guards that didn't contribute that much, like Exum, Hardaway and Josh Green.

While everyone is continuing to talk about what happened about the last game for Dallas and Celtics. There goes the moves like this from the other teams and I think this is a good decision for the Indiana Pacers. Pascal Siakam will stay on them for another four more years with a whopping $189.5M deal - max contract as said in the report.

Pascal Siakam and the Indiana Pacers have come to an agreement on a four-year, $189.5 million max contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
[...]
"I'm so grateful and happy that I came in a place where you just feel so supported and you feel like you're needed, you feel like you matter," he told reporters. "And as a player, that's really all you can ask for."

Boston won the last game and became the champion. They played very well in the final series and deserved it to the end.

I was supporting Dallas but they did not play well at all in this final series and they lost.
After many years, the NBA Cup came to Boston again.
We watched beautiful and enjoyable games, I really enjoyed these games, I just think the final series was uncompetitive.

I agree with you. It was pretty clear at the time that the real series between the two best teams was Minnesota Timberwolves playing against the Denver Nuggets. I think Minnesota just ran out of gas in Dallas, otherwise the Finals would have had a different winner and a much more competitive series.

Anyone have heard of this news? Pistons fire coach Monty Williams one season into record-setting $78.5 million contract.

Quote
The Detroit Pistons fired coach Monty Williams, the team announced Wednesday. The decision to part ways with Williams now reportedly came at the ownership level. Williams, who was hired last offseason on a then-unprecedented six-year, $78.5 million contract, lasted just one year in his new role with the Pistons. He went 14-68 in a disastrous season that included a 28-game losing streak.

And after just signing a huge contract, first year coach Monty Williams was fired as obviously, I think the expectations was not met by the Pistons and they went into a humiliating season. Williams credibility has been shattered again, he was once a great coach 2-3 seasons ago when he lead the Suns into the finals and then almost win the NBA trophy with a 2-0 lead against the Bucks only to have a meltdown. And after that it was all downhill for them and then the Suns fired him. And now this, just shows that basketball coaches doesn't have a job tenure and they are the first head to roll if a team went very bad.

IMO, we'll see news like this in the upcoming days. Every team is going to reform their roster and as well as their coaching staff.

Whatever is the management for each team think what's best for them, they'd do it even if it's going to take a revocation of a coach, a player or anyone in the organization a contract.

This is what's the ugly side of these franchises and company, they can revoke someone's contract at their own will when they're not satisfied. There's always that clause included in it.

Maybe the first big player news of the offseason… Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Pascal Siakam is intending to return to Indiana and sign a 189.5 million dollar deal that will keep him in yellow for the next four years. I think this is a good move for Indiana and probably for Pascal personally, but I would’ve liked to see him sign with more of a contender.

If it's not profitable then they can just let it go, no players or coaches are safe as the managements will always aim for money, and with how the Piston performs last season it's a managements decision to revoke the contract to find a suitable person for a vacant position and hope that it will bring something decent to attract fans to buy tickets and thier merchandise.

As you said, we might see more news regarding to how teams will reform for the betterment of the franchise.

That is true, NBA coaching nowadays is not safe, they can simply fire you after just a couple of games or even for just one season like the case of Monty Williams here. Well, it's not his fault that Detroit sucks, I mean just look at the line up and you can see that they will have a hard time competing with great teams in the East.

So the next person that will going to coach them will inherit a lot of headache and it will take a lot of changes in the Detroit uniform to at least make them a good team for next season and that includes a new coach. So any ideas who's best suited for that job?

Maybe the first big player news of the offseason… Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Pascal Siakam is intending to return to Indiana and sign a 189.5 million dollar deal that will keep him in yellow for the next four years. I think this is a good move for Indiana and probably for Pascal personally, but I would’ve liked to see him sign with more of a contender.

With Siakam solid average and huge impact in the game surely they want to keep a consistent guy with them together with Tyrese. Indiana already have a solid team, they only lack with experience and probably some more veteran players especially for their back team since this is always their weakness on most of their matches.

I think staying on Indiana is the wise move for him since they already have the sync on game while going for other team might hinder his ability due to another adjustment. Tyrese is the most solid teammate for him because Tyrese is always looking for a team play and not a solo score

And during that time, Monty has the biggest contract for a NBA coach before coach Erik Spo was paid more by the Heat with $100m++. Yeah, he was paid handsomely without doing anything specially for Detroit. But still though, the question is whether he can still or some time willing to hire him after what he did to the Pistons?

So he better be not gamble all that money he got, and be a good investor because that money might not long.

So now we have the Lakers and the Pistons searching for a new coach next season so let's see who will they get to turnaround their franchise.

In fact, it's good to see that the NBA has begun to value coaches more and offer them higher salaries than they used to. In Monty's case, this is certainly too much, considering the poor results that the team has achieved under his coaching. However, it's worth noting that there are also many players in the NBA who get multi-million dollar salaries while sitting on the bench for most of the season.

That's why they need to re-evaluate well the capability and the vision of coach for their team so that they can get a great coach that can help their young team to develop their skills also their chemistry on the floor. But I guess Monty Williams failed that's why I'm not surprised that he gets fired on Piston after their ugly performance given last season. It's really good that NBA is paying good paycheck since with that it can inspired them to perform well on the task and try to make their team became more better.

I've been so curios to know who will be the new coach of Lakers since that team always on the spot light and I guess its hard to handle the job their especially if LBJ is in the team where he has a sort of control on teams decision. Also let's see if who will be the new coach of Piston if he can make Piston better and get good record next season.

I agree but do we need to compare salaries of coaches and players? I think they should be on different pay grade in my opinion. Both are needed to become successful, but most of the time, it is the players that we recognized. In the case of Monty Williams, we can definitely say that he is a failure also he was paid with very good money even if they parted ways, so that is good enough for coaches. Players though we get multi-million contracts are going to be worth it for a team and if they deemed that they overpaid, what they do is just to trade him. As for coaches, they can't do that.

Smiley

I see Boston as too much for the Dallas Mavericks even before their series started. It's a bonus already how Dallas reached the finals. I cannot believe Minnesota who upset the defending champions in a grueling 7 game series nearly shut out by Mavs.

Luka Doncic did his part extraordinarily. He played well in this playoffs even with minor injuries. It was Kyrie who got lost in the series against Boston. I think there was only one game where Kyrie performed as a star in the finals. The rest of the Mavs team simply cannot match Boston's veterans.

Luka Doncic did all he can, people who keep calling him not doing his best are not realizing how much work load he gets on offense, which means his defense may lack a bit. Warriors kept Curry not defending anyone for many years while they won all those rings, so it's understandable.

I do hope that those criticism on him will make him a better player for next season. That's how great players responded, like when we hear that Kobe after losing in the finals to the Celtics, went back in the gym the next day, lift some weight and then go to a court to take 5,000-10,000 shots.

They are good already in my opinion, they have all the positions covered up. It's just that they don't have the experienced in the finals and obviously, Celtics have been here before and they have the perfect system as evident of them winning 60+ games in the regular season.

I agree with you, there are players who get paid more to sit on the bench, I don't think the money paid to coaches is too much, but it seems a bit of a problem to send coaches away immediately because they can't build the team the way they want. Coaches should be given at least one year.
