2024 NBA Season

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver recently announced a proposal where the 16 teams would be one single playoffs match regardless of the conferences. Yes, a new playoffs format where 16 teams will be bracketed at each other.

What does this mean?

E.g. Let's say top seed would be Warriors, they will be matched on the team that will take the last playoffs spot. So the format will now be, 1 vs 16 , 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14 and so on...

Unfair or will be fair? My thoughts is, just leave the Playoffs format on what it is today.

I don't like the proposal, the current system is working well and this already brings a lot of fun to us lovers of this game.
The East and West should be highlight and they should meet in the Finals so they can bring a lot of fun.
Is he also the one who changes the All Star format?

The All-Star proposal was made by NBA and the players itself. Im not sure who is behind the original idea but after some talks, NBA made it official as NBA players lead by Chris Paul agreed also with the proposal.

Talking with the new proposal for playoffs format, lots of East teams will surely can't sealed a playoffs spots as we all know that sometimes, the record for 8th spot on the West can be placed at 4th spot on the East.

Let's wait for some feedbacks on the players regarding this. As far as reports is concerned, only LeBron James currently gave a feedback about it.

If implemented, weaker teams will forced themselves to acquired and market at least 1 superstar in their roster but for that to happened they must matched the offer of other teams including matching the offer of those big teams unless that player itself will commit to that said team.

Majority of top 16 will surely on the West and it's kinda an easy road for the top seed on advancing the second round as they will faced the weaker team and Im sure that will be on the East.

And I doubt those teams at below can provide a huge contract offer for that superstar. Some teams at the bottom of standing is experiencing a detoriation of their ticket sales due to low record. But as you mentioned, if that superstar will commit playing at that team then there will be no problem.

And yes, let's say Golden State Warriors or Houston Rockets will be the top seed, they will faced the 8th spot on the East on which way more incompentent than the 8th spot on the East. There is no difficult road at all. But let's see some details about this later on once it will become trending.

Well i won't say it's "fair" since the top four teams would more than likely steamroll over their opponents but the middle matchups would probably more evenly matched. I agree than it wouls probably favor western teams to advance especially if they face a weaker eastern team

So what is the purpose of having a conference for? Looking at the new format I think it will be easier for people to do the things they like. Teams who aim to be tanking will have an easier way to do it as they are only for the lowest winning record which they could achieve on a Top 16 Playoff format. This format will also be bad for the low seeded teams as they are facing a top seeded team, it will mean a walk in the park for them as the difference will be big as they will be overpowered.

It seems to me an interesting idea to play the best team in the regular season against the worst (1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14 and so on).
Indeed perhaps it is time to eliminate the 2 conferences and only do 1 standings for the regular season.
The Western Conference in recent years has always had more strong teams than the Eastern conference.
With a unique standings these disparities are definitively eliminated.

Another spectacle night by Stephen Curry but it is not a blow out loss by The Clippers anyway. For sure going into the playoffs, Golden State Warriors will need to ride the momentum of their Big 4 specially Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. GSW fan here.

Curry with his amazing 3's, I'm sure  a lots of fans again celebrating this wonderful game from him, too bad I did some parlay for both cavs and gsw for
ML, but it's okay I know cavs still in the process while gsw seems to showcase more entertaining games ahead.

West really the home of the champ by now, warriors, rockets, and thunders are showing their own ways of reaching the finals and its really exciting to see
if who will be the final four from this side of the league.

Really  tough lost for the Los Angeles Clippers, they claw backed and closed the deficit by 2 in the last two minutes. But then Stephen went hot, hitting back to back 3's to give them enough breathing room. Klay started hot, and then Curry finishes it. It worth to note that Klay became the 10th player in Golden State's franchise to score 10,000, what an achievement. They will host Oklahoma next, and I'm sure that they are looking to avenge their earlier lost. Tough lost for the Kings though as Russ hits the winning 3 point at the buzzer to capped another triple-double.

Great play for Stephen Curry so this is the usual Steph that we are waiting for. I'm not a fan of him but when he's showing great performances, I'm always amazed. LAC may lost to this game but they are also a tough team to consider.

That would be a good game to bet on for their comeback after the all-star game loss that Curry suffered against team Lebron.
As it just happened less than a week ago and it must still be in his mind regarding that close game.
I think he did this performance as revenge for that loss.

Yes for sure it is a big game for Steph considering they are coming from a lose in the all-star game against Lebron. He may have to put those memories behind and start focus their attention of the coming playoffs.

I guess he is back, he should have shown that good 3 point shooting during the all star so his team would have won.

No matter what is the standing right now of the cavaliers come play-off time they will always be a team to beat. For sure we will see the Cavaliers playing in the eastern conference Finals. And if they are eliminated in that semi-final playoff that's the last time we could see Lebron on a Cavs uniform.

I could see it too. Dan Gilbert had already give Lebron James an ultimatum in the news article that i have read. Maybe this will give Lebron another reason to leave Cleveland. Lebron James should work for them and not the other way around because it is the team owner who give Lebron his salary.

The real measure of a team is really on the play-offs. Actually, its when the regular seasons ends and going into the playoffs. That's when players elevated their game, teams pushing hard and even coaches adjusted their plays. Yes, as long as the Cavaliers will make the playoff(most likely) then we don't have to worry, gonna be interesting who are they going to face though.

I say they have the momentum going on the last remaining games of the regular season. But when playoff comes, all teams are even. Just sad to see Jimmy Butler suffer a injury close to the playoffs and I hope that he can still play. But I'm sure it will have a big impact on the team because we all know that he is one of the offensive player. T'wolves will need to step up the plate if Jimmy will be out for the rest of the season.

They might not make it in the CF, unless lebron goes for mamba mentality. The Zone in every game, in every possible shots and way.

Have watched Lebron playing before the trades were done and now after.
And it is a complete overhaul of how his play has been.
It is uncanny really to see him dominating the boards again and the near blow out in the game last night was very cool to witness him going fast break again just to crush it.
It is very cool to see him going into full beast mode again right before the playoff start up again.
