BREAKING NEWS: LaMarcus Aldridge retires from NBAI've read it several times, even check the date, to see if this true. And it's real. I'm surprised because just recently, he's part of the big news when he becomes a part of the most stacked team in the NBA right now, Brooklyn Nets. Just to save others from clicking that link, Aldridge said he experienced an irregular heartbeat during their last game against the Lakers and worsened later in the evening. He was rushed to the hospital after telling the team what happened. This was unexpected. Maybe he just didn't share it but looks like his medical condition is something serious to the point that he retires quickly instead of just resting for long or give few weeks before announcing it.

Wow! That's very surprising, he's still young and still got those great post up moves. But if this about his health better to take this move than to suffer along the way, he needs to take the long rest so instead of asking for it he choose to completely move away from this league. Hope this decision helps him to work more for his health. Keep Safe LMA..

This is definitely bad news for his fans and the Nets. I think it was a tough decision for him, and I would say that this decision was hasty, but it looks like Aldridge is afraid that heart problems may recur. Anyway, health before everything else.

Yeah, unexpected that after he moves to Brooklyn he suddenly experienced a bad episode of irregular heartbeat. I'm not a medical personnel, but it seems if he didn't stop playing maybe it will contribute to heart problems later that's why I will say its tough but easy decision for him to abruptly quit and retire from his basketball career.

Definitely a crazy turn of events. I feel for him though. Sounds like his life means more to him than a ring, as it should be. Here’s the link to his announcement on his Twitter feed. Good luck LaMarcus! https://twitter.com/aldridge_12/status/1382706719684444161

I was really shocked by this news, man. I've also heard about it on Twitter. After being traded to Nets, none of us was waiting this kind of thing to happen. But I have nothing to say but respect. I also wish him good luck!

Not that a fan of the lad but it was a sad one to this sudden retirement but I guess this is for his health and I think that should be the top priority. It's a shocking news but this is how it should be and hoping for his fast recovery.

Players can't just say that they will retire that fast so, on that quick decision, we can assume already that his health situation is critical. A big Respect to Aldridge! Health over winning a championship. He can choose to be sidelined and no need to retire but he still chooses to stay at home, with his family, for good.

Unexpected and I'm also surprised to read that news, I've first read it on social media and thought of it as a joke because of the recent news that he recently transferred to Nets. Well, health over career and speedy recovery to him. It's good that he has chosen his health first and put that into priority, he can still be part of the league or his team but not as a player.

If he was spooked enough and thought he was gonna die, I could see him retiring immediately regardless of what the doctors tell him about his future. I’m not sure about the rules with championship rings, but isn’t it possible he would still receive one if the Nets won? I should probably Google the number of games one has to play to get a ring with that team, but it seems like a possibility.

I highly doubt on that if its possible because once a player retires then he's no longer connected on any means and in case Nets would able to get a ring but still it cant be counted. If he decided to retire for the good then its his decision and we are pretty sure that this one isnt something an easy one to be made because you do need to choose neither your health or your career and he definitely chose up his own health. Lets just respect his decision.

I should probably Google the number of games one has to play to get a ring with that team, but it seems like a possibility. Yes! They surely will. I guess it's the team's freewill who are those individuals eligible for the ring, If a specific team has won the championship. I remember Demarcus Cousins received his ring with the Lakers even after he was waived, and even Anderson Varejao who also received his ring with the Cavs after being traded at GSW. Giving rings to former teammate doesn't mean they're championships too, but it's a way to give them credit for contributing as a teammate during the regular season. There's no rules in the NBA who is eligible for the ring and who's not. It's just sad to see another talented big man in the league retired barely at the peak of his career and still a huge contribution to the team. LA along side with Chris Bosh retired early due to health reasons.

Not sure here too about that but in my own view, since Aldridge is part of that championship season, he will receive a ring. And for let's say, the Nets will be a champion instead next season, then no ring for Aldridge unless for a recognition. Sad to see that he never experience being a champion and this season gives him a high chance of achieving that but unexpected things happened.

But he can still be with them even after his retirement but he would be on the side of coaches or just be part of the practice team. The priority is his health and he has chosen the best option despite many would feel sorry for him about the championship. Yes, let's just pray for his recovery and hopefully that there's no need to worry about it after he recovers.

The fact tha he retires, meaning he is not anymore part of the team, so I guess he will not anymore get a ring but just a recognition for his contribution this season, I guess that woul already make him happy and hopefully he will stay positive even with this condition he is having now. People gets old, people gets unhealthy, but he should not forget that he was a great contributor to any team he is playing when he was still healthy.

The fact tha he retires, meaning he is not anymore part of the team, so I guess he will not anymore get a ring but just a recognition for his contribution this season,
Think about it too so you might be right. But let's wait until the Nets will be a champion. Whatever it is, that ring will make Aldridge happy as he was now being recognized even after his retirement. Damn these sudden health problems and injuries. Spoiling a player's dream.

This is what we called - no one could predict the future - anything could really happen in someones life. About for that ring then there would really be some recognition on the contribution but i dont think that it would really be officially be added into his career since he had already left or retired.

I'm not sure he would be happy on getting a ring when he did not make an effort to win it, you get a ring to win in the NBA Finals, so one should be part of the roster that will play in the NBA finals, whether a bench or starter, so it doesn't make sense of him getting a ring though, just my thoughts.

Luka might do that, he showed how great he is on playoffs last year, almost beat Clippers all by himself, but I think Dallas would still need some good role players around him to make it happen, and that will take a lot of years, that doesn't happen overnight.
If they want to fast track that success, then they should add star players like what Nets did this season. Luka is special and he can take any team he will be playing with, I'm sure Dallas will make him stay and let himself improve more, the current roster is already good but they are not a championship caliber yet, but who knows one day Luka will be paired with one of the brigtest star in the NBA, Luka and Kawhi, i think that would be good.
