Luka might do that, he showed how great he is on playoffs last year, almost beat Clippers all by himself, but I think Dallas would still need some good role players around him to make it happen, and that will take a lot of years, that doesn't happen overnight.

If they want to fast track that success, then they should add star players like what Nets did this season. Luka is special and he can take any team he will be playing with, I'm sure Dallas will make him stay and let himself improve more, the current roster is already good but they are not a championship caliber yet, but who knows one day Luka will be paired with one of the brigtest star in the NBA, Luka and Kawhi, i think that would be good.  Smiley

Add stars will possibly not the solution since chemistry still needed to build up after that. Maybe the player they need is those people who knows how to adjust and know the role in the team like jordan clarkson but seems its hard to find the same like him so better look for good role players who can possibly help Luka in their run.

We can only say that they are not championship team yet because of Lakers and nets build a super team but look at Dallas at Nowitzki era they could possibly do the same since they have Luka a excellent player of this era.

LaMarcus Aldridge announced his retirement from the NBA after 15 seasons following an irregular heartbeat.
Aldridge said that he experienced an irregular heartbeat during the Nets game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
He was listed in last 2 games as a non covid19 illness. Cannot blame him.hor choosing to retire as he doesn't wanna collapse on the court. Playing in the NBA isn't just exercise, it's extremely high intensity. Especially with the pace the game is played at nowadays.

Actually there's a lot of hype with KP + Luka tandem. But with the teams around now, it's not enough for them to reach the finals in the West, it's hard for them to imagine beating teams like Jazz, Suns and Nuggets and Clippers.

For sure the management will look at the stats because the current NBA games are analytics driven.

For the sudden retirement of Aldridge, right choice for him, his body is banged as well in the last 15 years, he has a great career and hoping he can win a ring with the Nets, but it's really unfortunate.

And also the training that they get from time to time. Their body is their capital as they get into the NBA business as the main players and athletes.
He's 35 years old and I think that's still young but in the league, that's no longer young and near to retirement age.

~
I just saw this news in social media and I was shocked a little bit by this news but if that is what he wants then there is nothing we can do about it.
After all, health is better than his career. An irregular heartbeat may cause him to suffer even more. With his age of 35 and with this illness, this is a better decision for him. Its just that the decision was unexpected.

Luka might do that, he showed how great he is on playoffs last year, almost beat Clippers all by himself, but I think Dallas would still need some good role players around him to make it happen, and that will take a lot of years, that doesn't happen overnight.

Luka needs some support from all star players if he really wants to win a championship. Either he will stay with Dallas and they will get some all star players or worse he will go to another team to win a title. Nets really did what is the best and they added some all star players and the Lakers also did it too last year when they won a title.

See Giannis and the Bucks. Giannis doesn't have any all star player on his side so winning a title only by himself is hard and we saw what happened for the past 2 seasons with the Bucks. I believe that the Mavericks will try to acquire an all star player to help Luka because he can carry the team and we saw it against the Clippers and take note, he is doing it at a very young age.

There are big men who last in the NBA and there are that have been taken away because of injuries (case for example Greg Ogden).

But in case of Aldridge he has a fairly decent career himself when he was in Portland, and maybe his body didn't take as he is getting old wherein it is a fast phased now. For sure he has taken care of his body, that's why the news was a shocker to all of us.

Maybe Aldridge body fails to adjust to the style of play Brooklyn is playing, I have known Aldridge since portland days, and his style of play is posting up,
at the same time, I think it the age, and maybe his heart now has reached his limits and needs to rest, he has a good career run, nothing to be ashamed of,  that all he's the body can give, pushing it further will put his life in a bad situation so I think he did the right thing.

Greg Oden. Yes, that was a waste. High expectations for him to dominate the centers of NBA. If he was healthy, I bet his offers will be hitting the roof.  Grin
In case of Aldridge he already played a lot of hoops and I think that is enough to prove he is also one of the best forwards in the league.
He didn't get a ring but he's still one of the elites that will not be forgotten.

I was also shocked about the retirement. It was a big surprise.
Just out of curiosity, will they give him a ring if ever the Nets win the championship?

Not sure if it has to do with the style of play in Brooklyn or if this irregular heart beat just pop up due to his age. NBA players have extensive physical test so I doubt that it didn't capture during that time as he could have been advise to take a rest. Yes, he is one of the best forward during his prime so no need to punish his body just to get a ring with Brooklyn. Health wise this will be the best decision.

Just out of curiosity, will they give him a ring if ever the Nets win the championship?
I guess if the Nets will win the championship this season, then Aldridge probably gets a ring, but it's also worth noting that he played only five games for the Nets after signing the contract. Anyway, it will be at the discretion of the club.

He will not get a ring, he will be out of the team because he cannot come back anymore.

The word "retirement" means he is out for good.

Too bad LaMarcus Aldridge retired early but health come first. I wish him good luck on his journey after his successful NBA career.

It's time to spend time with family now. He probably already has enough money for his next 5 generation grandchildren.

Yeah but this kind of people who dedicated his career in sports will not gonna be contented by just sitting and watching other players playing the game he once enjoying.

It's sad to see an early retirement for him. I hope that he can find another opportunity for his career to be use.

If he will just be positive despite of his problem, he can find a good life after basketball.

We never know what lies ahead but if we trust God and trust ourselves, anything we like to achieve could happen, his basketball career is over but not his life.

He has been dealing with his heart condition for a while, I know that his retirement could have been a bit shock to anyone who didn't know about that, but even the ones that knew it would basically be expecting him to do that eventually, even if timing could be a surprise, it was definitely expected anytime in the last 2-3 years.

I am a spurs fan and we knew this for the past few years, it wasn't as bad as making him retire, so he kept playing, but it really didn't help that much for his fatigue and rest, because of his condition he couldn't train as well as other people, he had to basically take care of his body and not overuse it, which caused him to play lesser and lesser minutes and have higher and higher fatigue.

I guess he called it game and just left it at the table. About the ring deal, I don't know if they would have done it in any other situation, but since this one is health related and basically a very great PR move, they will give him one for sure.

That's good to hear that he is financial stable, unlike those superstars who retire or quit, but due to their excessive lifestyle, all their NBA income has been spent on things like cars and houses, without any future investments.

So we can say that it was really an easy call for him to retire and take care of himself and his family and not force himself to play just to sustain his lifestyle. Yeah, probably he can have a management role in either Portland or San Antonio if he wanted to.

Making sure that everything has been taking care is very first thing most NBA players are going now, learning from the past experienced by those old stars,

They are now doing the right thing, investing or managing their finances carefully, I used to remember Pippen and his controversial
mistake with his finance adviser.

With ALdridge case, it's better to take care of his health than to force himself playing and risk his life, having enough savings from his long journey inside this league can sustain his family, good thing to retire now.

I was just assuming though based on his salary, but we never know what his real financial status now, or how he will spend his money in the future now that he is already out or has retired from the NBA.

Anyway, how about let's discusss the Knicks vs Mavericks game, Knicks on a roll. what do you think, are they gonna win against the Mavericks here?

I guess I'm gonna ride my money with the Knicks here, I'll bet on the moneyline as they are the underdog and I think they have a chance since they are in a win streak. I'm getting 3.37 betting on the NYK in https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/basketball/usa/nba/dallas-mavericks-new-york-knicks-6059757fc57dd8176dc7a7ae....

Luka did the magic last time, not sure he can do that twice in a row.  Grin
