The World Champion New York Knicks will also be playing on opening day against the Philadelphia 76ers October 20th. This will be a game that sets the tone. I think the Knicks are definitely favored a bit having played an entire season together, but we’ll get a look at what the 76ers talent is capable of. 

Although there is more than two months for the game, I cannot wait. Seeing the 76ers against the champs will be very entertaining. I just remembered last year's opening game, OKC vs Rockets. It was a two times overtime game and score was like 129-130. Thought the Rockets were going to have a great that season.

To be fair, Rockets indeed have a good season. They even have a good run during the regular season until they slowly choke on the later part until the playoffs due to their lack of good point guard.

Of Vanvleet doesn’t injured I believe they will probably progress further that even finals is possible.

I don’t expect much on 76ers since it just old Bron with JB which is not that dominating on the league. The hype is only due to fans that will surely die out slowly as the season progress.

It seems those that said the league were waiting to see where Lebron goes next before making the season schedule weren't wrong after all, we're getting Lebron @ MSG for opening night, and then the rematch of the Western conference finals, OKC Thunder vs Spurs,

It can't be wrong because Adam Silver said it. So I initially thought they would schedule LeBron's team against the Lakers on opening night, but it was booked on Christmas instead.

This will definitely set the tone, and I hope everyone is available on opening night. Although both teams are in the East Atlantic Division and will face each other 4 times in the regular season, the first game should always be the most exciting part.
This will also determine whether LeBron has made the right decision. Since he doesn't have enough time to build chemistry, so he leans towards the team that's one of the most talented in the league.

Anyway, the full NBA 2026-2027 regular season schedule drops tomorrow.

Still a good schedule for Christmas for sixers and the lakers it will draw crowd for that game, even more bigger than the sixers and the knicks match, the match with the sixers and the knicks will be a test if the knicks can play against this bigger team, although the speed matters and that is what the knicks advantage but for sure Edgecombe and Maxey will not let things go, because they can match the the speed of the knicks, both are exciting matches i was just leaning to the lakers sixers game.

He never ceases to amaze us, he is really a good dunker. Too bad he has not been that lucky in the NBA as his stints there were very short.

The NBA should definitely improve their dunk contest. For me, it has become one of the most boring events during NBA All-Star weekend.

Next season they should be fully healthy, and they really need VanVleet as their PG. Durant is exceptional as always, but the team becomes much better when he is surrounded by players he can trust to deliver when he gets doubled or when he is struggling.

Its only Durant's first season with them, so I think there is still a lot of improvement that can come from this team. Next season they could be really dangerous, just like the Pistons. As long as they can get a good spot in the standings and earn home-court advantage, I think they will be fine.

Also, if Durant is not healthy during the playoffs, then that's already a huge problem for the team.

When was the last time that we've seen a duel between 2 players on a dunk contest? I'm pretty sure many know this, but it's when LaVine and Gordon during the 2016 Dunk Contest. Imagine that was a decade ago already and ever since that duel, no one ever comes close. These are the reasons why NBA All-star has been snubbed by many fans and don't even have interest to watch it anymore. I remember during the last whole all-star break, there are many empty seats on the arena, and that shows that fans aren't interested in watching it, or maybe for some, it isn't worth watching in person anymore because they might... they might fall asleep.

1 and 2 should merge but I think for no.2 they won't need to get outside NBA because it wouldn't be called NBA dunk contest at all. I don't know if it's by pure luck they got LaVine and Gordon on that 2016 dunk contest but I really think they should scout more prospect to enter or maybe LeBron will now join the contest to make another history to enter the contest in his age. That would be historical tbh. I don't think contract renewal will do, that will void the contract at all, same with the salary increase. A reward is enough but they should make it more exciting for players as well, I think these rookies or sophomores will definitely be down for that.

I'm thinking what if Edgecombe joins next time, I feel like this kid has the leap and versatility to make some incredible dunks too.

Yeah. Just saw this news recently. Good luck to the new owners.
They're building around Luka and I think that's just fine. Maybe the same management but only a change in the ownership.
And while the veterans are getting signed and having contract extension, there's one that seems to be forced to retire and that's Westbrook.
No team is signing him or yet.

He’s genuinely one of the guys to feel bad about for never winning a ring, he was such a joy to watch in his prime and would be missed, and I’d agree that he’s still got a bit to offer if given the chance. No one beats father time is popular saying in the league, but I’m surprised that there wasn’t any team throwing any kind of offer towards him, even if it is as a veteran on the bench, since Russ is one of the easiest likable guys, perhaps he chose to go out on his own terms.

Russell Westbrook has retired. I've been watching this guy for at least 15 years, and only now have I realized how quickly time has passed. He was a great player and one of my favorite players.

What he accomplished throughout his career before retiring is truly incredible.

They bought it for $10 billion and sold it for $12 billion in one year. From an economic standpoint, it was a very sensible move.
While the organization had the same owners for 46 years, it has changed hands twice in the last 2 years.

It was unbelievable that they couldn't win a championship ring with Durant and Harden on the Thunder. That team had so much potential before it broke up. The Brodie is retiring without winning a ring, but that doesn't change the fact that he's one of the most elite point guards in NBA history.

Maybe he knows that no will try to recruit him that's the reason he retired i feel bad for Westbrook, but he maybe planning to play overseas that is why he chose to retire but i heard that they are eligible to pension right after reaching a certain age, he can do a lot of things even though he is not in the NBA maybe do a training camp to help players, or play for teams in other countries still pays well, but im going to miss his Hussle and plays like in the OKC where he plays before they should have not release him or trade, he have done a lot for that team in my opinion.

Agreed, he should have just taken it. Even if it's just the vet minimum, that is still 7 digits a year. If there's no offer, then retire. I'm wondering if Thunder would give him a 1 day contract and retire his jersey soon. I hope Thunder management would do that, after all I don't remember them having any beef.

Another old star has retired, and soon others will follow. Little by little, the stars we used to watch are retiring. It's just sad, another star retired without a ring. I guess Harden would end up the same. Only KD has a ring from the former Big 3 of Thunder.

While other stars are chasing their first ring before retirement, moving from different teams, we have Patrick McCaw, he has 3 rings btw, 3 championships in a row.
