Just got a 7970 to get back into gaming.

I've been mining on the same rig with 3 5830's no problem for a few months.  Using GUI Miner and have tried Deepbit and BTCGuild pools for a few hours and no shares accepted, both have good connection and miner name/pw is accurate.

I've tried a few different SDK's but no change, drivers are Catalyst 12.11 (for Battlefield 3 gains) and I can't really sacrifice going to an old driver due to big drop in FPS on 7970's.  I need all I can get maxed out at 2560 x 1600.

I was thinking of trying a different miner but can't figure why that would make a difference since GUI works fine with all my other setups including this one until I swapped cards.

Card reports 100% load, 615Mh/s in GUI miner screen too.  Power draw is there, so it's doing something but not sure what :p

Any ideas?

Maybe look at Summary and Console within GUIminer (noobminer) If you cant get info there, You can always use CGminer.
I agree that was you say is Totally bizzare and that GUIminer should have no issues, But in reality, You just went up '2000' series of AMD GPU's, Your gonna have some differances.

How exactly do you know that its mining with your GPU but not accepting shares, Are they all rejected? What error do you get? What message is listed?

Are you still using SDK 2.1? You said you tried several different SDKs, but uninstalling them is actually quite tricky. SDK 2.1 was optimal for the 5000 series, but with newer driver it causes exactly the problem you describe: card hashes, but never produces shares.

Im not sure if they will help but for boinc and folding i have been modding drivers to run older opencl drivers and older sdks works great for boinc and folding and still get the boost of the 12.11 drivers.  Few of them i modded below its best to uninstall thru add and remove then use driver fusion to get rid of the left overs opencl likes to stick around and not get fully removed.

Yeah, This is what i think is his problem, But i couldnt infer since i felt his explanation of the issue was insufficent.

If you are running windows, Heres how you can Compleatley remove most SDK's (running something like driver sweeper Helps, But WILL NOT FIX it)

Windows-sys32-> Delete "amdocl.dll" "opencl.dll"
Windows-SysWOW64-> Delete "amdocl.dll" "opencl.dll" <--You wont have this folder if you use 32bit

For a 7,000 series card, You'll get nothing but problems trying to use SDK 2.1, I reccomend you install the most recent SDK, Seriously.

And before someone asks "WHY?"
It's called GCN architecture
