You're lost dude! This thread should be on the beginners and help section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0) But personally I   can suggest coinbase.com or blockchain.info as a starting bitcoin account/wallet as it was very easy to make.

Don't use blockchain.info unless you want to lose your BTC.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

Do you have a mobile phone? There are plenty of Android and IoS wallets that are very user friendly and will have you rolling in minutes. Some of the most popular ones are Mycelium for Android and Breadwallet for IoS.

The problem with blockchain.info is that it depends on your own security being good as anyone can log in from anywhere if they have your details. Most people aren't so hot at keeping their machines secure.

I second this. Stay away from blockchain.info wallet.

Watch couple of videos and read on the basics of Bitcoin to start and understand this first.

Then you need to chose a wallet. I would suggest that you download Multibit for example. You can try Electrum as well but the GUI is nicer with Multibit. Then I would suggest you to watch some YouTube videos and tutorials. Just type Multibit Bitcoin wallet into Google and try to understand what happening.

If you are still confused after doing this, come back and ask questions.

Instead, try one of these "hot" wallets:

Mycelium

Greenbits

Wrong place..

But go here :

Www.blockchain.info you can open your own wallet.

Not forget to secure it like 2FA.
Do not use blockchain.info, their service is terrible and they tend to screw things up massively. Please do not use them.

I recommend that you use a desktop wallet. I recommend that you use Electrum since it is lightweight and secure.

You can go to the Choose your wallet page of bitcoin.org. They list good and trusted wallets their that you are recommended to use.

I can't see any mention of that anywhere. Not my cup of tea but plenty of people are using them. They're also insured against hacks but only if it happens at their end.

Instead of Xapo, I would go with other wallets that does not involve the storing of Bitcoin with a third party. Main reason being they can freeze your account or steal it. Wallets like hive wallet gives you control over your private keys.

Personally I don't suggest xapo as they require an identity verification to able for you to send coins on other wallet and to be able for the wallet to become fully functional.

It's just my own opinion as I hate verification shits online (for privacy purposes of course) but if you are fine with that verification thingy then go and use that wallet, who am I to stop you Tongue Cheesy

Everybody keeps suggesting "online" or "mobile" wallets...

Please, do yourself a favour and use a good, secure wallet.... Chances are you'll be using this wallet for a long time, so you'd better take a secure one.

If you have time, a good pc with plenty of recources, and unlimited bandwith, i'd suggest bitcoin core... If not, i'd suggest electrum or multibit HD. I personally find electrum easyer to use, but that's my personal opinion.

Bitcoin Core would ultimately be the best choice for desktop wallet. They do not trust miners like what SPV do and is IMO the best full node that exist. SPV clients do trust miners unlike Bitcoin Core. The downsite of using Bitcoin Core is that a backup is required for every 100 transactions as it sends the change to a seperate address. Some SPV clients are hierarchical deterministic wallets. They generate the addresses from a seed which you backup the first time you use the wallet.

What the hell? Blockchain.info is a offline wallet? It is the most absurd thing I have heard this week. It is definitely an online wallet and they do store your encrypted private key on their server. A offline wallet is a wallet that have not and will not ever connect to the internet. When going with an online wallet, blockchain.info should be the last you should go for.
