Keep core running so it can rebroadcast the transaction. I have not found it on two blockchain explorers I tried. I assume it did not propagate well.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

I could not find your transaction on several block explorers nor on my node, so it seems your transaction has not been broadcast successful to the network.
Try to go to "Help", "Debug Window", "Console" and type getrawtransaction 47b3b278e96e467f1859264f9d15d0557a37b261c070fc93e118ea6a22c4ffdd
You should see a very long output there. Copy the whole output and paste it to https://btc.blockr.io/tx/push and then click "Push immediately".

Can you see how many bytes the transaction has? If your wallet contained a lot of "dust" (small payments from faucets, for example) then the transaction fee might be too low for the size of the transaction data.

Thank you very much - that helped. Would the problem have corrected itself over time if I had done nothing and left bitcoin core running?

Yes, it might just have taken a little longer than pushing it yourself. Bitcoin core is one of the only wallets that rebroadcasts your transactions.

You can try a CPFP transaction. You can create another transaction which spends a change output (if you have one. If no output of that transaction goes to you, then you can't do anything). That second transaction needs to have a fee that covers both that transaction and this one that is also unconfirmed. You will need to push that to Eligius which is the only pool that mines CPFP transactions.

Transaction is now confirmed right now.I'll just say how to do it anyway.

Child Pay For Parent(CPFP) is a patch implemented by miners. This patch allows the sender to send another transaction with the output with a higher fee.The miner would have an incentive to confirm both transactions in the same block and collect all the fees. To do it, you have to spend the output with a higher fee. However, as Eligius has a small hashrate, it does take sometime.

When you send coins from v0.11.1 (64-bit)bitcoin core to an address with the highest recommended fee, is each confirmation dependent on the next (six I think in this case) blocks, or can there be more than a single confirmation in one block?

I ask only because I sent 1btc and got my 1st confirmation in about 5 minutes (still way too slow IMO)
Then sent 15 btc and it took 45 min. to get my 1st.

Mind you, one confirmation is good for me as I know it's on the network and will catch up in time.

No. The 1st confirmation includes your block. Every further "confirmation" is just blocks on top of that block that contains your TX. The following blocks do not contain your transaction.

The confirmation time has nothing to do with the amount of coins you transfer. The most important factor is the fee per byte.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.
