Bitcoin Poker Site Operator Gets Probation and $25,000 Fine
Brian Micon, professional poker player and former operator of bitcoin poker site “Seals With Clubs” has been sentenced to two years of probation and a $25,000 fine. Brian Micon was facing a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
Micon, 37, fled to Antigua with his family following a raid on his house in February by the Nevada Gaming Commission. Following his departure, Nevada regulators issued a warrant for his arrest in the first bitcoin-related online gambling case in the state’s history.
Brian Micon decided to return to Las Vegas and face the charge. As a result of a plea deal that was reached with Nevada prosecutor, Micon had to surrender 3 BTC, $900 in currency and some computer equipment that was used in the operation of sealswithclubs.eu.
