S7 setup

I received my first miner today. The antminer s7. On the instructions it said to power on the hashing boards first then the control panel. I put each 6 pin into all 9 of the hashing power ports. I then powered the power supply on .. and waited like 5 seconds and plugged the control board 6pin in while hot. Is this correct?

no no no no no  no.  you could arc and kill the controller

never hot plug a pcie cable.

Just

plug in all 10 jacks leave them alone.

turn the psu on.


the gear will stage the 3 boards and the controller correctly


don't plug and unplug the pcie jack that much it keeps them newer


if you totals look bad do a software reboot.

1. The PSU turns off
2. The controller gets semi fried by an inconsistent 12V supply if there's no Vreg
3. Nothing happens and the controller turns on.

The instructions are designed for users using multiple PSUs on the same unit. Powering up the controller's PSU before the / some of the hashboards would lead to detection issues.

Although we have worked out what Bitmain means in their instructions, they are far from clear and the OP's interpretation not an unreasonable one. This question has come up many times, since it first appeared on the S5+. It would be good if they could make them clearer.

Also the instruction on the Website for the S5+ are equally unclear

Communication with Bitmain is not so good, at least in my experience. If you're not asking for support on a recently purchased miner and you do general inquiries or tell them to fix their stuff, then communication is kinda horrible.

Its not hard to make it clear;

"In the event you power the miner with more than one PSU, make sure no boards get powered after the controller."

Which should make people understand as long as the boards are live before or at the same time, its fine. Controller just does not seem to support hot plugging blades.

Isnt comunication at all, they promise all the time and after they leave you in the shit.

I stopped to sell hardware in Uk cos of Bitmain.


I can assure from the 16 s4 i bought in black friday last year one came totally broken. and they give up



severals weeks after UPS lost a package of 1200 dollars and i didnt get any compensation from bitmain or UPS I will say forget Bitcoin Mining

Trade its more efficient just keep an eye on the portfolio.

I dont want more deals with scammers, wherever Janet Yoshi or jesuscrist

Almost all CEO's do the Alcohol Drugs and Prostitutes thing, this is a known fact. Really its just about if they can maintain or not. Most can. Gambling is where some of them get into trouble for real. That and the never enough greed attitude.

I personally trust Bitmain as I have bought plenty of gear from them and they always come through. When it comes to cloud mining however I prefer to have my own gear in hand. Unless you pay well over $0.10 per Kwh or need a lot of power for a lot of units its my strong opinion to just mine at home, small scale. You can't just request your gear anytime from Hashnest and that could be a problem.
