When I said Satoshi has got Nobel prize, a few eyebrows were raised and finally the topic was moved to off-topic. But, now it is real. Satoshi Nakamoto has been nominated to receive Nobel Prize in 2016.

He deserves to win the Nobel prize, but can he remain anonymous and win it?

We haven't had a single communication from him for years that's definitely from him. There was a post on a different forum from his old account this year, but nobody can be sure it was really him. The account could have been hacked, or his email name he registered with could have expired. Someone could have registered a new email account using his name if vistomail recycles old expired email names. Then they could have asked for a forum password reset using his old email account's name.

GG NO RE

Quote
Many industries such as Banking, Finance, Law will see a big upheaval. The consumers will be big beneficiaries and indeed the poor and marginal sections of the society will reap the benefits of financial and social inclusion in the coming decades. I can barely think of another innovation in Economic and Finance in the last several decades whose influence surpasses the welfare increases that will be engendered by Satoshi Nakamoto's brilliant, path-breaking invention. That is why I am nominating him for the Nobel Prize in Economics.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

God i love quotes.

I really do think he deserves this award. It takes most to wait their entire lives to be considered to be nominated for one. He revolutionized how we as a society views how a monetary system should work and be successful at it.

Barack Obomber won it too and he's a mass murderer! Satoshi is far above meaningless nonsense like this and his TRULY meaningful contribution to this world is only degraded by putting him in the same company as sociopaths.

Moreover, worthy also of the Turing Award - https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_Award - the "Nobel Prize of computing", our Satoshi is.

The course our city runs is the same towards men and money.

She has true and worthy sons.

She has fine new gold and ancient silver,

Coins untouched with alloys, gold or silver,

Each well minted, tested each and ringing clear.

    Yet we never use them!

Others pass from hand to hand,

Sorry brass just struck last week and branded with a wretched brand.

So with men we know for upright, blameless lives and noble names.

These we spurn for men of brass...

He has not been nominated so far. His name has only suggested to the committee. I don't think he could be. I'm not totally sure about that, but I think there needs to be some exchange between the people nominated and the committee before the award taking place. Satoshi Nakamoto would have to reveal himself if he wants to be nominated.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

He's moved on to other things. I believe this involves running a burger van in a layby somewhere on the south coast of England. The only thing that might tempt him out of the shadows would be a Michelin star these days.

I wish Satoshi would be eligible to to be nominated and the end receive Nobel Prize. There is very little inventions of our age which really deserve that.
Unfortunate I am quite sure that you can't be anonymous person to receive that prize. Nobel however can be awarded to organisations and group of people as well.

If someone deserves to get Nobel Prize, that is sure inventor of blockchain technology and Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. Even if he stay anonymous forever and even if "he" is group of ppl. Blockchain technology is in my opinion best invention (not only in economy) happen so far in this century and we still did not see 0.1% of his potential. Nobel Foundation should find way to give that prize.

I think it's going to be a good while yet before the rest of the world digests what the technology behind it entails. Even those of us who are mired in it can barely conceive of where it's going to take us. Give it a couple of decades and then check back.

And as if that was not enough, they hacked his website and ridiculed his achievements. Truly disgusting.

Just about to write a press release on this on behalf of the Bundesverband Bitcoin, kinda the German equivalent to a Bitcoin foundation.

In order to fullfill my journalist duties I need to ask Satoshi for a comment on this, which I herewith am trying to do here.

Okay, I'll admit it.  Where do I have to go to pick up my prize?

If in fact Satoshi Nakamoto was nominated and actually won the award, how would he prove that he is the person he says he is if Satoshi Nakamoto was just a pseudonym?  And, what's gonna stop every Tom, Dick, and Harry from stepping up to claim the award?

While accepting the noble prize is good, for sure he wouldn't show up.
If he did, it would change his life forever and will never have privacy for the rest of his life.

So, it's finally possible for an anonymous person/group to receive Nobel Prize Smiley
But since he/she is anonymous, he/she can't pick the prize expect he/she tell his/her bitcoin address.

But, i think it's difficult to happen now, maybe it can happen in future.
Maybe we can have someone else step up to accept the prize on behalf of satoshi Grin
The closest one i can think of is dorian Roll Eyes
Or maybe the current maintainer of Bitcoin core itself

im not sure about the credibility about that article, it seems like the person that wrote it just wants the money that satoshi would potentially win.
If satoshi actually wins the nobel prize of economics though, this would be great news for bitcoin, it would bring tons of publicity and awareness to bitcoin and attract new users.

Don't speculate like that,
there's no guarantee that satoshi gonna win the nobel prize, he just got nominated to be Wink
And i don't think he's going to win anyway because he never revealed his face before, and i don't think he can win nobel prize with that condition
Unless he reveals his face which won't happen because satoshi don't want part of his privacy getting hit

Nakamoto getting a Nobel prize seems like an awesome idea. I don't think that he'll anymore remain anonymous if he gets nominated for the prize. Also, it doesn't seem like Satoshi owns the bitcoin address mentioned in the huffingtonpost anymore.

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto? We don't really know.
Where does he work and which country does he live in? We don't know.
Which scholarly journals in the field of Economics or Finance has he published his research in? Not in any of the reputed journals that one would look for.
if you excpect this question, just ask to someone or website who know everything about Nobel Prize.
thats not too important, just think easily,if nakamoto included to nobel candidate,so i'm sure they know anything about nakamoto, but if this just a fault, you can check again that website  Grin

Geneva Switzerland.
That is where they get awarded the nobel peace prize, so this one should be the same venue.

After reading this post I cannot withstand to say that the Nobel community now should add a criteria of awarding the prize for an idea specifically rather than to the person.

Nominations are great!

Technically there is no Nobel Prize for Economics - so what category would Satoshi qualify for? E.g., Peace, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Medicine?) There is a prize for Economic Sciences but it's not a Nobel Prize.

It would be cool if his contribution to economics were honored...perhaps it's a bit too soon. The impact of his work hasn't been fully realized by the world.

The award ceremonies are not conducted in Switzerland.

The Nobel Peace prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

The Nobel prizes for Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences are all awarded in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ah my mistake. I have to get my European geography sorted out with these current events.
So we might see a proxy to accept the award for Satoshi Nakamoto  in Sweden.

It is just a trap to make him reveal himself. They will assassinate him afterwards.
Ha ha! I dont know if you are serious. But yes, he deserved to win it. A lot of people would say he is a 'pioneer' in his field. and his idea has actually attracted millions of people worldwide. Me thinks he deserves a Nobel.

Everyone know about satoshi nakamoto. The founder of bitcoins. It's still not found out whether he was a person or a group of persons. But, their discovery was ultimate. They invented and discovered what is called the world's best cashless currency. The world has understood this and they have been nominated for the Nobel prize of 2016. It's a great mark of respect for everyone. They deserve it and they're getting it now

Yes. He definitely does deserve it. He has revolutionised the world by bringing Bitcoin into it. But if he does win it, how will he receive it without people finding out his identity. Maybe he now wants to shoe the world who he really is and take credit for making this futuristic currency.

It doesn't matter if he wants it or not, but either way i believe he fully deserves it. Giving people the option to break free of the centralized banking system,
and giving them chance to be their own bank is worthy of a Nobel prize for sure.
I'm interested to see the outcome, and even tho he will surely never going to accept it in hands, this would make every bitcoin user proud they are a part of it as well.

Satoshi Nakamoto already is in possession of several hundred million U.S. dollars worth of bitcoins so the additional prize money may not mean much to him. Only if he wants, the committee could also transfer the prize money to my bitcoin address, 165sAHBpLHujHbHx2zSjC898oXEz25Awtj

The author of that post has already said that he is ready to claim the prize on behalf of Satoshi, but still you cannot give him the award money. Maybe, the award money can be donated to the foundation or to someone who will use it for the betterment of bitcoin.

Satoshi will never come foward, even if they award the Nobel prize to him/her/them. The anonymous legacy add to the mystic of this entity. If I had a choice, I would rather have

Satoshi be anonymous. People will forever judge and awarding someone you do not even know, a huge prize like that, would dishonor the other people who received it before.

Let's not water down the value of such a prestige title.  Wink

take an loog and this article

http://www.businessinsider.com/bitcoin-inventor-satoshi-nakamoto-nominated-nobel-prize-economics-bhagwan-chodry-2015-11#oo

it seems that professor Chowdry has violated official rules about nobel nomination process

Quote
You can only nominate people to be awarded the Nobel Prize — widely viewed the highest accolade in economics — if you have been invited by the Economic Sciences Prize Committee. And typically, every part of the nomination process is totally secret: "The names of the nominees and other information about the nominations cannot be revealed until 50 years later," the Nobel Prize's official website says.

What are the odds that the Nobel Foundation now sponsored by banks is goin' to award a prize to some dude who disrupted the banking institution worldwide? I think Kenye West has a better chance of being elected president of the US.
