At Brazil i had showed a friend mine about bitcoins explained that what it is and that is possible to earn a good ammount montly doing some services ,as signatures and faucets and trading, anyway,he said how much did you get from those and how long you present at it,i said and showed to my wife first ,now she understand why i spend sometime writing and more then 3 hours online daily.
But the thing that made them joined were the exchange ratio, money of Brazil its real and 1 dollar=3 reais ,when i said isnt too much but my friend as me like to spend sometime online, searching and having fun ,soo he can now be rewarded from some of his time.

Not a waste of time at all. Droning on and on about it after their eyes have glazed over...that's a waste ;-)

Most of my close friends know I'm interested in this "thing" called bitcoin, some call me whenever they hear something about it. I've given small amounts as gifts.

Sometimes there's more truth in forums than anywhere else.  Twitter:  @cryptobitchicks   "I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring?"

ive also sent some btc to my friends to incentivize them to get started with bitcoin, but it just never works  Sad.

It wastes time at the moment. My friends had the same response and wouldn't bother to touch it. Never mind at least I share with them what I am doing. They will realize their mistake in the future.

Is it a waste of time mentioning Bitcoin to friends and family?

Your family - it probably is.

I don't really think that mentioning Bitcoin to anyone is a wast of time. Anyone that you can persuade to get into Bitcoin is great, it is great for you as you know that you helped someone out and it also helps them as it would improve their life. So try persuade anyone you can as it will improve the Bitcoin community.

I talk to them about it but they just constantly tell me to sell whenever there is any price increase, I don't ever recommend either to buy as then I become the blame if they lose money or anything and I wouldn't want to put a strain on any friendships.

Yeah. Normally I don't tell people to buy, I just tell them how it works and most of the time they are like, why don't you just use paypal. FACEPALM. I once told my friend to invest in Bitcoin and he got completely rage at me because he stupidly sold when the price was falling. Next day the price went back to normal. Since then I don't tell anyone to buy Bitcoin.

Well it's very easy to use Paypal or Credit Cards. Common people don't really need Bitcoin, it's a complete hassle to acquire for the price to fluctuate endlessly. Maybe in the US is easier with Coinbase and similar services but in the rest of the world is expensive and complicated. If you don't care you are much better using Paypal or CCs, they have success because they work.

Now Bitcoin of course is for many of us a long term investment as we see the potential in its technology. To others, they could benefit for short term trading. I feel Bitcoin needs to find its niche where it's much better to use it compared to an alternative. I can't find any examples sadly...

I have considered telling my family and some of my friends about Bitcoin but whenever I've tried, they fail to understand why it does have value and why it is extremely important specially in the current socioeconomic context.. they don't get it and see it as something really strange. Needless to say I wouldn't tell them to put any money on it. In a way it feels like im keeping something amazing to myself, but at the same time, I don't want to put people into the pressure of holding through rallies long term because most people aren't cut for that.

How to introduce Bitcoin to absolutely clueless people and is there even a point? Should we just let time pass and wait for them to naturally learn about it once it goes more mainstream?

For me it is worth mentioning it to your family, my sister introduce me to bitcoin and now im using
bitcoin to pay bills and some other stuff, and now im troducing bit coin to my cousin and they are interested
of it.

the most difficult of introducing bitcoin is how to make him trust bitcoin is good
because we know more people imagine bitcoin is bad, terorism, drugs, gamble, sex etc.

i think media must expose bitcoin is good comodity bitcoin is "real currency" bitcoin is future of money

No i would not say its a waste of time.

It is simply going to take more time for the general public to understand it and for more places to start accepting it.

Thanks

I did  mention Bitcoin to my family though, just in case i wanted them to know that I do have money inside my BTC wallet so whatever might happen to me, they might wanna access my wallet so they can withdraw. If I die the next day, i'm pretty sure they can have it when they log into my laptop.

Nothing is wasted when you made an effort to introduce Bitcoin to you family, friends and loved ones. Regardless if they accept it or not, what's important is they we're introduced, they we're informed and if they did not accept, it's their loss not ours.

I explained my friends what is bitcoin and how they can use it, some are interested about using it but they will not buy because there aren't enough shops to buy with it. I think that is interesting to talk them about bitcoins, and when they read a good new about bitcoin in media, they will be more interested.

I don't think it's a good idea in my case. I started talking to my gf about BTC and she told me it's a bad idea and I need stop wasting real money "on such internet scams". I guess it would be even worse if I told my parents.

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend. A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

you need a simple sentence to explain and you are ready to go make them understand.
