Block explorer stuck on block 452416

Sadly I don't run or maintain that Blockexplorer.  I am hopping someone else could setup another on their own terms.  I will offer a 600 OctoCoin reward for anyone that sets up a block explorer (not crawler).  An extra 300 Octocoin if it's on a dedicated domain.

Finally more nodes online...weird version numbers though..... Potcoin 0.8.7.1 Huh and Satoshi 0.8.6.2 Huh

"addr" : "63.247.147.166:22889",
"subver" : "/Octatoshi:0.10.3.1/",

"addr" : "178.7.27.72:65047",
"subver" : "/Potcoin:0.8.7.1/",

"addr" : "194.135.85.149:33175",
"subver" : "/Potcoin:0.8.7.1/",

"addr" : "50.162.235.186:49508",    <-gitlab
"subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.6.2/",

"addr" : "70.169.221.184:59035",
"subver" : "/Satoshi:0.8.6.2/",

"addr" : "24.215.182.92:22889",
"subver" : "/Octatoshi:0.10.3.1/",

Most likely are users that are using the old versions instead of doing the upgrade... if there isn't a huge gap of versions of the components i think it shouldn't be a problem

This is due the Octocoin not changing the pchMessageStart value to something unique.  I plan on doing this once most of the network has upgraded to the new client.  Otherwise we risk forking the block chain if it done too soon.

Yeah, and if possible maybe even let the old version if are know to cause forks to stop syncing... do you have an ETA about this fact or for now the focus is about planning?

c-cex.com has voting up for Octocoin 888 - https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

BTC Voting address: 1AKCREydFp8eDfLT436SohhomPXxMGVFej

You can vote for free once per day if you have BTC in your c-cex.com account.
---
Vote this up on cryptsy.

https://www.cryptsy.com/coinvotes/# and vote for octo 888 to get listed.  Everyone gets 1 free vote then you can vote with cryptsy points or bitcoin.

1AEnN7gdBFLj8cD52jotepbMz4sqKPDcEg that is the cryptsy Octo 888 voting address every 0.0002 you deposit is considered 1 vote.

If we can get it added on either of these exchanges i know of a pretty decent size pool that will add Octocoin to it.

yes OCTO is the Counterparty asset that used to be 888 (devs abandoned original scrypt coin from March 2014).  A burn took place a while back, so that's where we are

no that's where some people are. some members chose to burn their coins, it's their coins, they can do whatever they want with them.

i'm talking about the original 888 coin, hence this thread.

last i heard bittrex suspended trading because the wallet was broken, since it's supposedly been fixed.

if anything, burning 20,000,000 of 88,000,000 888 coins only made the remaining 888 more valuable.

I'm busy working on an Electrum wallet for OctoCoin.  It could be some time before that's ready.
In the mean time we need to raise more awareness for OctoCoin.  Any Ideas?

good on you!

well we need to get it listed, so we need people to go to the bittrex IRC channel and tell their admins that we have a working wallet, and that they should relist us. will need proof showing that it's working

we could use a block explorer too, if we need to raise money for that, let me know, i can chip in.

I got an explorer up @ https://chainz.cryptoid.info/octo/

I really liked the interface and they responded pretty quickly to my request, so i went ahead and paid for 1 year hosting.

Next steps is getting onto an exchange.  Anyone have an experience with getting a coin listed ? if yes please tell us the story.  Since cryptsy has been on the fritz we can count them out for now but Bittrex, Poloniex, C-cex, Bleutrade, and Bter should be our focus.  Anyone know someone with any influence at any of these exchanges ?

Until the DNS seed servers are properly setup it will be necessary to manually add nodes:

Code:
octocoin.securepayment.cc
188.165.3.6
178.62.187.119
54.223.76.165
93.157.47.8
73.28.52.171
70.51.34.92

in your Qt Wallet, go to the debug window, then 'console' tab.  Type in

Code:
addnode <address> add

Replace '<address>' with one node entry from above.  Then hit enter.  Repeat for each node.  For example,

Code:
addnode octocoin.securepayment.cc add
addnode 188.165.3.6 add
addnode 93.157.47.8 add

There are two issues blocking the deployment of the DNS seed servers.  First off, I do not have control of the octocoin.org domain.   I you look at the source code, the current DNS seed servers are s1.octocoin.org and s2.octocoin.org.

It's easy enough to change that, but I have not decided if I will just use another domain and release an updated client, or wait and hope to register the octocoin.org domain when it expires later this year.  Secondly, there are just too few active nodes to make it useful/worthwhile to setup a DNS seed.

I heard back from BleuTrade and they want 2 BTC

Quote
Bleutrade now charges 2 BTC for adding new coins.
This value is required for maintenance of our servers and that the coin is not delisted shortly.

I guess running an exchange isn't very profitable these days.
