Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer?

It is a over priced Geek magnet and "Out of the box" option for lazy people. I would much rather invest in a Raspberry PI 2 than buy this. That said, it is their first attempt at this and it might just fit a niche market. The marketing seems to be focused at the Developer angle.

I would have wanted to see something targeted at the normal consumer and making some sort of profit.

Why are some people still calling it a "dev kit"?  What the hell is a "bitcoin dev kit"?  heh, that doesn't even make sense.

It's just some marketers hoping to target the "hipster" wanna-be developers, and make them feel cool by wasting $400 on a device that has absolutely zero use.

The software definitely has use, did you even read about it or are you pretending it is a node + mining chip and that is it?

In a practical point of view, it's better to get a raspberry pi instead of this overpriced thing. The amount generated from the mining chip wouldn't even justify the use of buying such a thing. It's much better to just exchange a few dollars for Bitcoin and use it for development cost. Or just use testnet.

Very dumb people who think they are investing in Bitcoin might buy one to impress their friends.  
 

And let's be honest, if they have priced it lower, let's say about $200, there would be many people that would have bought it just to impress their friends. Like this at $400, I don't know who would be crazy enough to even do this!

Seem like Amazon is also starting to take 21 Computer order. I'm not ordering as it is somewhat too expensive for someone like me. I wish I could give it a try. Just a try. I know it is not a good investment.

It isn't an investment, it has no chance of ROI it is a hobby item or a dev kit.

Who knows, maybe in a lot of years it becomes some sort of bizarre collectible item and you can re-sell it on eBay for thousands of dollars. I just recently saw a Sound Blaster sound card which I used to have on my computer as a kid on ebay going for a lot of money because some people like the vintage stuff.

I find that 399$ for a modded Raspberry Pi 2 is way too much. Except if the miner can have at least a 350 Gh/s chip, it has no value for someone that isn't looking for Bictoin integration. Also mind that even if it could have a 350 Gh/s chip, it would still be really expensive.
