The use of bitcoin is depending on people that used it, whether for a bad thing or a good thing. Yeah,we'll know that bitcoin is very suitable for illegal stuff, but I still standing on bitcoin side  Wink

I hate how all this stuff demolishes Bitcoin's reputation. Bitcoin is a great cryptocurrency and it deserves better. But Bitcoin also tends itself to hacking so I am not too surprised to see this. You also didn't provide us with trustworthy sites. Other sites can just post what they want.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

They haven't show us yet any solid proof about this
But then, i think there's nothing wrong with BTC used as illegal stuff
You know, way back before Bitcoin exist this kind of group of terrorist already using Gold,Fiat, any sort of currency for their transactions Roll Eyes
Bitcoin is not the culprit in here, anything can be illegal if it was used in the wrong way Wink
The only thing i worried about this is that people would be scared of using bitcoin and thus not making bitcoin mainstream Sad

I think ISIS use also a bitcoin, because they like anonymous , prefer in gamble,

Exactly. We need some solid evidence before we can believe this accusation or theory.
1 problem with currency in general is that it can be used for illegal uses, but every time something illegal happens to Bitcoin, people seem to make it a bigger deal than it should actually be.
Yeah....it is kind of bad that this happens because it means Bitcoin is 1 step further from becoming mainstream.

No one ever said that ISIS was using Bitcoin to terrorise people, isn't that kind of weird, Bitcoin isn't made for illegal purposes. It is what people do with Bitcoin that is sometimes illegal. I don't like the fact that Bitcoin gets blamed for all this kind of illegal stuff. Everything bad that happens, people find a way to bring Bitcoin into it.

What if the answer is yes, would you stop using Bitcoin?
There is no point to discuss about this in here, because whatever happens we will definitely would continue to use Bitcoin.

Maybe this would answer your question:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1057355.0

There's a note in there saying that they're not affiliated with the group though. I kind of doubt it. A little.

Maybe it is, maybe it is not. Whoever are using Bitcoin that's their personal business. Should we consider stop using water because so many people were drowned in it?

IS might use bitcoin, but that is a very small proportion of the total spending of IS. Their main income is from oil smuggling into Turkey and donations from Sunny Muslins.

I don't think so. Bitcoin is not anonymous enough. Don't forget that gouvernment can always see what's going on with all transaction.

This will just make people curious really.

I heard bitcoin back 2012 but hardly even tried using until someone offered me to receive a payment from them through bitcoin hence I created a wallet. Later did I know I can earn more with btc plus anonymity as a bonus.

Its what they do thats wrong, not btc's fault.

Let's be honest, IS has no use for Bitcoin that isn't already covered by an existing currency. It would also be infinitely harder for them to make use out of it, since the Internet, and a willing buyer, are both required.

Personally, I think they're using the Euro. If any allegations about Turkey trading with IS are true, then they would have a means of getting a valued, moveable, and fairly accepted form of currency into their treasury.

I don't mean to be a conspiracy theorist or anti-immigrant or anything, but this would also help IS make any "sleeper agents" look somewhat more like legitimate refugees, as US Dollars would likely look out of place or have a mildly more difficult means of acquiring the accepted currency.

Honestly, I would not be surprised if IS was using Bitcoin, but I doubt it.

Also with the anonymity arguments;

The gov't knows where IS is, so they have nothing to lose. The only person that might have an issue is the buyer, but IS could probably circumvent anything like this by having the coins run through one of those "coin washers" or whatever.

I don't think so. Bitcoin is not anonymous enough. Don't forget that gouvernment can always see what's going on with all transaction.

Its true that bitcoin is not anonymous (http://www.bitcoinisnotanonymous.com/), but its not a full truth by saying that "gouvernment can always see what's going on with all transaction". Frist, eveyone can see it, as blockchain is public. But, linking transaction to real identities of people makimg is not stright forward. Even for government.

I wouldn't believe it. Bitcoin isn't anonymous. Sure, can you use it to buy stuff illegally off the dark web? Yes. But to say that without absolute proof is a little bit too far. Show me evidence and show me proof, i'll take this claim more seriously.
