Exactly my thoughts. OB is too small currently to have an effect, but hopefully it will grow via word of mouth over time and if it gets to a sizeable userbase then I could see it having an effect on the price, but probably not any time soon. I'm excited for it to be released though and will hopefully use it myself.

the most important thing is to not expect too much from this as in the price going up a lot. don't make the same mistake as when gemini launched. so many people were hoping and thinking the price would go up a lot. but it didn't happen.

I don't see why the coming launch of Open Bazaar should make Bitcoin rise in value. Not in the short term.
But it's great to see that OB will be soon open it's doors. Every new business in Bitcoinland brings us a step further.
And OB has to gain traffic first. And I hope not too much by the guys lookin for illegal stuff.
What I think will happen is that some premium/power sellers on ebay will use OB as platform where they can offer products which are not allowed or only restricted to sell on ebay. I'm curious and will definitely have an eye on that launch.

It all depends how open bazaar works as I'm not exactly sure how it does at the moment. Is it just going to be one huge platform? Can anyone sell anything there? Drugs, weapons, porn etc, or will there be individual stores or sites to sell individual items ie one for drugs one for goods, one for weapons and so on. If it makes those things more accessible to the general public bitcoin could see a spike as people get involved.

We already have eBay, nothing has beaten it and OB won't beat it. OB is, sorry to say, destined to become another victim in the rearview of eBay. Don't get your hopes up, bitcoiners. Your day will come, just not this year. Wait until Feb/March'2016. We should see major upward price movement. Be patient, don't buy into any hype just yet.

I'm very excited about Open Bazaar, but it's launch alone will not affect the price of BTC.  Ultimately it's adding value to the whole ecosystem, which is great and in the long run that could have a positive effect. I'm hoping the dark markets fork it and run with it. This could really open up the alt-coin markets too because most of these alts have zero usage outside of trading.

especially because they have no funds, maybe if they see that many will begin to use it, they could charge a fee for other small fuction that some users may need, and speed up the proceess on the new needed tools for everyone

In terms of decentralized applications it has lost some of its utility.

They promise in their own FAQ that anyone doing something illicit with the software is likely to get caught, and I don't think they're lying---it's not designed for strong privacy.

Well if it really ends up being like this, then I don't see a point of this long development! It will get shut down in a matter of months. Why make all this buzz about it if we will end up only with new Silk Road?

They could have just launched something out their basement on the dark net and finish with it! I don't know..

Can the Open Bazaar software be cloned or modified to do illegal trading. If so, then it is quite bad for the reputation of crypto currencies.
