PIVX SHIELD Testnet Wallet Release

The long-awaited PIVX pre-5.0 testnet release for upcoming 5.0 with SHIELD is now available for download!

This test release includes our new SHIELD protocol that provides the ability to both send and receive shielded transactions that fully protect your transaction data over the blockchain.

SHIELD also sports some unique enhancements such as multi-note shielded spending, a full byte encrypted memo functionality in the Qt wallet, and more.

We encourage everyone to try out this test release and will be greatly appreciated if any issues seen are reported either in the #pivx_testnet PIVX Discord channel, or directly on PIVX GitHub.

Notes
1. You must run the wallet with -testnet parameter (or testnet=1 in pivx.conf) for it to connect to the testnet blockchain.
2. A set of parameter files need to be copied onto the system separately. So please take a read of the release notes to know how this is done or ask for assistance in #pivx_testnet channel.
3. Hard fork on testnet will occur at block height 1873550 (approx. Dec. 9th 20:00 GMT)

1. PIVX Development Update - Week 3, December 2020

This latest update covers the recent development highlights such as the SHIELD testnet testing results, new TR3 testnet wallet release, as well as some new and exciting information on what else is coming in 2021!

2. New PIVX SHIELD Testnet (TR3) Wallet Released!

After a very successful 2 week testing period with the previous TR2 wallet, a whole heap of new bug fixes, performance improvements, and consensus changes have since been merged into master. Due to this, a new testnet has been deployed (testnet5), and the subsequent TR3 wallet is now available to public testing once again. The list of PRs merged between tr2 and tr3 can be found in PR #2078.

Please note that this TR3 wallet is not compatible with the previous TR2 testnet blockchain. So it will create a new testnet5 folder on your system and start as a brand new wallet, requiring you to acquire some fresh new tPIV from the updated faucet (link below).

You can now download and run the new 5.0 wallet!!
It is a mandatory update. (fork at block 2,700,500)

Simply put. This wallet will allow private sending/receiving/storing of PIVX once again!
We call this SHIELD, and is a much better protocol, with highly audited cryptography.

Well, its clearly good as a feature. But whether or not major exchanges will accept it is a different question. My guess is that in the short term privacy coins will do badly but in the very long term (in a crypto sense) they will do rather well. At least one or two will. Demand will force it to be such.

New PIVX v5.0.1 hotfix wallet has been released for all PIVX core desktop wallet users.

SHIELD activating network upgrade on Mainnet went smoothly at block height 2700500 on January 30th, 2021.
All exchanges have upgraded their wallet to v5.0.1 to support the protocol bump also and are all operational.

This makes PIVX the very first full Proof of Stake cryptocurrency to have working zk-SNARKs zero knowledge proof transactions on mainnet!
