PIVX 5.0 Core Wallet with SHIELD Released!

On January 8th 2021, after nearly a year in development, the PIVX core wallet 5.0 (v5.0.0) was finally released, with it including the much awaited financial-privacy-enabling SHIELD protocol that can protect your transaction details from being seen publicly.

This release makes PIVX the very first Proof of Stake cryptocurrency in the world to have a fully working zk-SNARKs Sapling protocol on the mainnet!

PIVX v5.0.1 Core Wallet Released

Shortly after the release of v5.0.0 in early January, a minor security and bug fix release was released in mid-January and is currently our latest version that everyone should be using.

If you are running a version that is older than v5.0.1, then your wallet will NOT be on the majority network. So make sure you upgrade ASAP.

Always go to Github Releases and download the latest version to ensure you benefit from all the latest fixes and enhancements.

SHIELD Protocol Now Active!

On January 30th 2021, the SHIELD protocol was activated on the PIVX mainnet network through a hard fork on block 2700500.

Only 2 minutes in from its activation, at block 2700502, we saw our first SHIELD transactions on the blockchain where transparent PIV were shielded using the new protocol for the first time!

i have dowload a last wallet, but don't sync, 0 active peers,if i open a console, all peers are banned, if i unbanned, the wallet ban another time.
i don't have antivirus, firewall or other, i have test to 2 different laptop (work and home) but same problem

If starting the pivxd, it cancels with the message, that he cannot start the http server. Never have seen this before on other coins. What am I missing?

wallet version 5.0.1 on ubuntu 20.04 LTS. On this host I use CLI, not GUI.

PIVX Weekly Market Update (April 16th, 2021 - April 22nd, 2021)

Across the board, all cryptos saw a downturn in the markets (compared to USD). Despite this, PIVX continued to remain strong against BTC (satoshi values). The average weekly volume saw a 54% decrease compared to the prior week. The average weekly USD price also decreased, down 12% compared to last week and as a result, the average weekly marketcap also decreased 14% compared to last week. The daily USD price spread widened a bit to $0.42, as compared to a spread of $0.33 the week prior.

The Daily Volume for PIVX ranged between $1.79M and $2.89M, with an Average Daily Volume of $2.29M. The total volume over this same 7 day period was $16M (Figure 1).

The Daily Total Marketcap for PIVX ranged between $99M and $138M, for an Average Marketcap of $115M (Figure 1).

The Daily USD Value for PIVX ranged between $1.61 and $2.03 with an Average USD price for the week of $1.81 (Figure 1).

Final PIVX v5.1.0 core desktop wallet has been released and is now available for download!

It is a non-mandatory, but highly recommended wallet upgrade with significantly improved performance, stability, and usability.
This release represents a huge step forward towards the big PIVX 6.0 network upgrade scheduled for Q3 2021.

PIVX Weekly Market Update (April 30th, 2021 - May 6th, 2021)

PIVX experienced some continued upwards momentum over the past week. The average weekly volume saw a 43% increase compared to the prior week. The average weekly USD price increased, up 16% compared to last week and as a result, the average weekly marketcap also increased 17% compared to last week. The daily USD price spread remained relatively flat at $0.34, as compared to a spread of $0.32 the week prior.

The Daily Volume for PIVX ranged between $1.84M and $8.60M, with an Average Daily Volume of $3.86M. The total volume over this same 7 day period was $27M (Figure 1).

The Daily Total Marketcap for PIVX ranged between $108M and $125M, for an Average Marketcap of $119M (Figure 1).

The Daily USD Value for PIVX ranged between $1.71 and $2.05 with an Average USD price for the week of $1.84 (Figure 1).

$PIVX set to release a new v5.2 mandatory core wallet update this week!

Cold Staking feature will be re-activated once the network enforcement occurs.

We are excited to announce the imminent release schedule of v5.2 core desktop wallet, that will implement the necessary network hardening measures, and allow the re-activation of the Cold Staking feature!
As this will be a mandatory update, there will be a network enforcement (hard fork) approximately 12 days after the 5.2 wallet release. So we urge everyone to be prepared and upgrade all PIVX core desktop wallets and nodes once the final version is released later this week.

So what are the plans for the remaining months of the year? Any major activity or news coming up for PIVX? From your 2021 roadmap, all items are already completed which is very nice. But can you publish those merchants that are now accepting PIVX in their payment system, if there's any?

Why and How the PIVX DAO Works

The realm of the Decentralized Autonomous Organization is a murky one at best. But it works great for the PIVX Community.

Some may consider my choice of words in the title, “the PIVX DAO Works,” somewhat bold. But, the fact is, it’s worked up to this point, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work in the future.

Let’s back this up a little; I think I may be getting a little ahead of myself in presenting this the correct way. Let’s first examine what a DAO is, isn’t, and how PIVX uses it to govern. The three letters D-A-O are short for Decentralized Autonomous Organization, a term that has a fairly specific meaning.

Proof of stake is cleaner than Proof of Work I can not agree more. PIVX's source code is used by many altcoin projects that a recognition of its position in Proof-of-Stake ecosystem. Without the source code from PIVX, the market would not have too many PoS altcoins but PIVX is leading again with DAO.
