To reply to the topic title..
There shouldn't be any here at all.
It should all be done out in the real world.
Being a pathetic shill at Bitcointalk.org accomplishes nothing.
We only need Facts here.. not upbeat happy advertisements.

There is good and bad and it is embraced or your being dishonest.
Take an Exchange i won't name for example..
If there is large evidence your coins will not show up if you send them to the exchange
should you say something maybe and warn others ?
Well, that would be negative and FUD and will of course get you banned.

You can't just prance around the Altcoin scene skipping along pretending problems do not exist.

Arb'ing coins got so dangerous loooong ago i quit doing it.
I kept getting burned when my coins did not show up.
And today it's waaay worse !
Now it's typical for users to be happy they got *some of their coins.
Something is fatally wrong with the Altcoin scene.
If exchange to exchange transfers have gotten that bad i'd say we have a HUGE problem.
But you can't bring it up anywhere with out being labeled a Troll FUD'ing.
The knee jerk reaction is to call people a liar until THEIR coins are gone.
Many guys said they figured the Cryptsy complaints were FUD by Trolls as the Cryptsy staff claims.
then later they said they changed their mind after seeing the problem first hand.

At what point do you guys start to care for new users coming in ?
Rather than cheerleading for an exchange or coin or dev etc ?
If you all cared about this stuff like you claim you would be looking after the noobs coming in..
Not preying on them.

FUD first & ask questions later™

At this point, I don't really believe Bitcoin will have a chance. We need to work together, and not against each other. I'm so tired of working 7 days a week, for 50 bucks a day. That's not gonna pay anything. Yes I'm still in school and still young, but that doesn't mean that I'm not allowed to worry about my future, or our future as the Bitcoin family. My business partners are always worried about the overall reputation, and behavior like this is not how we're going to get a price increase. The media is always against us, so it doesn't make a sense to go make matters worse to the point where we're even against each other. If you suspect someone is a scammer, that's fine. Put it on the trust rank page. Just don't make a campaign about it. The currency already looks negative in the eyes of the public. You are all just making it worse.

The behavior of users on this forum will have a minor or no impact at all to the success of Bitcoin. What you say here is not going to change how people act on the internet (i.e. this is not forum specific).

Basically, you're mad because we couldn't be less interested in her/his/your gawdy knick-knacks and infantile forum behaviour?

Good.

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

That's incorrect in my humble opinion.
There's a lot of places on the internet where people congregate and talk about Bitcoin, this one being only one of a few. Even if this forum went to shit and/or shut down, people would just move to a different site and continue as they were previously. This forum is insignificant on the future of Bitcoin because of this, same as a forum about the Russian Ruble would be insignificant on the progress of the Ruble its self.

The success of Bitcoin is not dependent on this forum. Most of the important players do not waste their time on forums/reddit (unless some AMA event/other). Besides, Bitcoin should not be based solely on 2 communities.

I propose an alternate solution: You leave these forums, and never post again.

This is not a place for special snowflakes like yourself.

That's incorrect to me. This is the most popular forum for Bitcoin, created directly by Satoshi with half a million users registered.

Just a reminder: if my rule actually does go into full affect, then it means the reputation forum is being removed. It's just a playground for trolls anyway.

Proof:

It is better for people to troll in a specific subform, so that they will not troll every where in the forum. People want to show who is right.

Wrong. More than half are probably bot/shill accounts. The exact numbers are debatable. I doubt that there are only 168k shills/bots (668 613 total members ATM). It is highly likely that the number of such accounts is very.

Not souly. Superficially. Our superficial reputation is not in the best place as of now, so.
I could care less (is what people making things happen would say). They don't care if you get butthurt here or don't (I doubt anyone cares). It is the internet, either deal with it or stop using it.

I propose an alternate solution: You leave these forums, and never post again.
Or take this piece of advice; it works best.

Yes but the US economy isn't going to implode if wells fargo goes bankrupt.  Bitcoin is way bigger than bitcointalk.

I don't want to assume anything here, so I will just ask. Are you implying we're never going to reach some sort of humble and civil compromise? We are a tech savvy forum. We are one of the most intelligent people on the internet. I am sure we can come together at some point. I just don't know when. It has to be soon though, because 6 years has already passed us by.

True, but we still do play a part in the reputation of bitcoin. It may not be huge, but it is still a part. All positions matter.

But bitcoin is far more resilient than that, and if this forum got shut down bitcoin would still be standing.  And it is certainly likely that anyone looking to get into bitcoin could do so and never even know this cesspool forum exists, and even if that's not the case, you're not giving people enough credit.  They can judge bitcoin independently of bitcointalk.org.

At this point, I don't really believe Bitcoin will have a chance. We need to work together, and not against each other.
-snip-
The behavior of users on this forum will have a minor or no impact at all to the success of Bitcoin. What you say here is not going to change how people act on the internet (i.e. this is not forum specific).
That's incorrect in my humble opinion.

If Bitcoin's future depends on one forum then it'll never get anywhere anyway. It has to grow far beyond what one community contains.

How many android users visit or are even aware of the major forums? A very small fraction and I don't think its future hinges on a bit of cat fighting between two or even three anonymous nobodies.

You are attempting to make it seem that I am suggesting that a forum is reliant for the success of Bitcoin. I never said that.

It just seems like an excuse for people to continue on with the way they function in this forum. What I did mention was that it could help the reputation of Bitcoin for some if we could better the reputation here.

That's hard to disagree with but I'm amazed this place isn't more toxic than it is when you combine disruptive tech, scamminess, anonymity, scepticism and the potential financial stakes. Strife and drama will always be a feature of something of this nature and respecting others, or the total lack thereof, will forever be a casualty. This joint is just a reflection of human nature.
