How long ago did you purchase the bitcoin? Depending on the service you used to purchase the bitcoin, it may take longer to be sent to your wallet. Some may queue orders for new customers, or the transaction hasn't yet been confirmed on the blockchain if it was within the last block.

First thing : your coins are safe.
This type of problem I have faced many times with my multibit wallet. Just clicking the option of "reset blockchain", will re-synchronize and will show your bitcoins.

Yes showing balance in blockchain explorer is more important than showing in wallet. If you use bitcoin core and it's not up to date then you can not see the right balance.

If coins show on the blockchain you have the coins. Are you using multibit? They have an option 'reset blockchain and transactions'. This used to be in multibit classic, I don't know if that's in multibit hd.

I'm using shadow wallet as I thought it would be safer. There is no option of reset blockchain on the page at all.

Your private key is a key that can be used to recover your bitcoins if u lost access to your wallet, so never tell anyone your private key, or they could steal your bitcoins.

You can use your private key to send bitcoins to another address. The wallet address is used to receive bitcoin. Can you export your private key on that site? I have never heard of shadow wallet before. Are you sure this site is not a scam? I would recommend one of the official wallets: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

its very likely that your wallet may not be synced yet? are you using Bitcoin core or electrum? Often times if a client is not synced up it won't display the correct amounts that should be shown on the addresses. Check and see if your client is synced, If it is your BTC should show up.

I'm not familiar with any wallet called "shadow wallet". I'm guessing that what you probably have is an account with some anonymous service. If that service has any contact information, then you'll need to contact them and ask them to fix your account. If there isn't any contact information, or if the operator of the service doesn't respond to your contact attempts, then you've probably been scammed by a fake wallet service designed to trick you into sending your bitcoins to the scammer.

The recommended bitcoin wallets are listed on the Bitcoin official website: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-walletCan you provide a link to the website of that wallet, so it can be reported for phishing and then at-least a warning will pop if someone tries to access it.
