I heard about Bitcoin first after that huge price spike of November/December 2013 (so far the biggest bitcoin price in history). It was a huge news back then when bitcoin was even less established as it is now. After that I become hooked to the topic and liked the idea of unconstrained economic system, money, and remittance solution packed in one great invention.

As the forum thread title says, I am interested in your Bitcoin story, how did you become interested in Bitcoin? Well, i know bitcoin was in april 2014. Friend on facebook post something about with bitcoin can earn money. Then i try to find more information about that. And i realize something more than just earn money. Bitcoin can change what people think about money as we know. Bitcoin is an innovation in the world ecosystem of money.

I knew about bitcoin since it's inception but started investing into it this year only. For me it's just a small investment hobbie and maybe someday it will be worth my while :-) kinda like collecting hockey cards or comic books :-P

Accidentally! And all this 4 months I wonder how I didnt saw it before. How is it possible? Since then I`m in this bitcoin world, I dont play other games, I dont visit game sites that I use to. When I`m on internet I spent my time here reading, or gambling on some dice site, or gathering somethign on some faucets that I like. In most cases all 3 together. And I`m still waiting for my first bitcoin!

I first heard about Bitcoin as a way around the financial blockade erected by VISA/PayPal, etc related to Wikileaks. I thought (and continue to think) that Wikileaks and the people who use this platform for whistle-blowing are a huge benefit to our society and it pisses me off to no end that the mainstream banks are telling me what I can and cannot do with what is mistakenly advertised as 'my' money.
Alas, in late 2010 the software needed porting to my platform of choice and I got tied up throwing some excess fiat at some property which absorbed my attention for a while. I didn't get around to doing the porting until mid 2011 after the $30 spike. Oh well. Done pretty good anyway.
As I've said every time one of these threads comes up;
- Thank you whoever it was at Wikileaks who found Bitcoin.
- Thank you whoever it was in the govt who showed in no uncertain terms the farce that 'my' money is with the blockade.
- Thank you whoever it was at the banks and PayPal who sucked the cock of the aformentioned and screwed their 'customers' who have demand deposits.

It was at the start of 2014. I was looking through some websites and I kept on seeing Bitcoin as a donation method. I was intrigued by the price at that time and thought it's quite innovative with its decentalisation and decided to look further into Bitcoin. I found this forum sometime later and joined it. I actually thought of mining at first but I found that it isn't profitable any more .

I read about bitcoin first about 2 years ago. Once I read about it, it was love at first sight, I loved the idea of an online currency like bitcoin. I read more about bitcoin and started to buy some miners, just small ones so I could really understand the concept of bitcoin.

LOL. You always need to have hope in what you do and this is a great example. If you had invested and bought like 100 coins back then, you would be rich now.

I think I got interested in btc around 2012 or so when there were news stories about being able to aquire money by letting your computer solve math problems--I guess they were talking about mining. And then more news stories in 2013 about how much bitcoin had appreciated in value. I really started to look into it then and I think that's when I discovered this forum, but I didn't actually join it until early this year. And I didn't own any bitcoin until about the middle of 2015 when I started using that crappy faucet, I think it was land of bitcoin that gives you 1 satoshi every 5 seconds.
It's been an interesting ride since then. I still have doubts about the long-term viability of btc but I'm hopeful.

Pretty hilarious indeed, have you even wonder what would happen if you invested back then in bitcoin? (max bitcoin price in 2012 was around $15 if I recall correctly). Well, we may have similar situation now. Who know - maybe bitcoin in 4 years will be worth $10000?

I got interested in when my sister introduced it to me, at first I as skeptical Because its quite hard to earn in the start, but I still tried it she let try gaming(coin flapper) Faucet first which is very easy. I got 1 mbtc in an hour and continue to play Until I got about 5 mbtc it took me at least 6-7 hours to complete it but it was worth It for m because it was my firs time , then she introduced me to bitcointalk And fired trading that when I really got hook in bit coin.

I heard about it roughly 3 years ago in 2012 during the first year my gaming pc was born. I was learning about the world of pc hardware and the various things done with graphics cards after hours when they are idle. I got into spending my extra gpu power on Folding@Home which was a big thing on the pc forum I was frequenting and we had a team/giveaways every month for people that supported the cause. Then there was a bitcoin section added and for all intensive purposes it overlapped with the F@H section since there were similar rigs for both (couple graphics cards, motherboard, psu and tons of fans).
I took a few glances at it and read up on what information was available which was pretty vague other than download some client and spend resources on hopefully getting some virtual coins. In my off time I did download the client and get it running to the point of it catching up to the current blockchain. From there I cant remember if I did mine or not but if I did it was using the miner on the client. It was all confusing and I put the whole bitcoin thing on the backburner til 2013ish.
I think Bitcoin was around $140 ish and I do remember debating on whether or not to buy some, mostly because I loved looking at the btc/usd charts and all of the information and news was flowing nicely. I started visiting a few faucets every now and then and messed around watching it hit $1000+. Around November that year I created this account here and lurked reading everything not really feeling the need to post but checking on things regularly.
A month later Dogecoin came out and I learned about the altcoins and how to actually mine. Getting in early I did manage to earn a nice amount of dogecoins each day but I didn't really have much value behind them and it was a nice fun project to mine for at night. After that get really into cryptocurrency stuff, mined a bit, bought a bit, lost a lot, learned a lot, and had fun every moment of it!

The first time I heard about Bitcoin, was when I was standing in a shop and the guy in front of me asked, "Do you accept Bitcoin" I had no idea what it was, and I did not want to look like a idiot, so I went home and I Googled it. Those few words, pulled me down the rabbit hole. I was hooked, when I grasped the whole concept. Oh the lady in the shop replied, "No Sir, but my boss is looking into it."

As the forum thread title says, I am interested in your Bitcoin story, how did you become interested in Bitcoin? I got interested in BTC about 3 years ago or so after stumbling into the forums somehow and ending up on just-dice.com I remember doog gave me .01 BTC and that was the first tip I got. I also remember Mirecea popescu giving me a whole BTC back when they were worth nearly $100. Those were the good old days. Now I'm up to my eyeballs in debt and scrambling to get my klyemax website up and running so I can start buying back investors shares or paying them out weekly dividends. Its been a long and hard path so far but in it to win it, and clear my name.
