Where was this deal or transaction made? I'm assuming it was not on the forum here otherwise we would have seen you post their profile name by now.

localbitcoins.. but well.. what does it help to talk about that. i just feel like shit now... and very disappointed.

thank you guys for all your help!

Ok you posted address.  Who was person who gave you wrong address?  Do you know who own's wrong address?

Those are two important questions.  You keep giving part of info.  If you have time to do a good post with all info it will be a lot better.

I'd mark them as untrustworthy and report them on localbitcoins. Always check the feedback score. I've done a few transactions on there with reputable sellers/buyers and never had a problem.

Also, depending on the method of purchase through localbitcoins and the instructions given you can insulate yourself from scam a bit. Such as verifying the deposit of cash to your account, getting the standard "no refunds" written on the bank receipt, etc

yes. i got scammed. it is really sad that there are such people. makes me feel very down.
I am sorry you have been scammed.  I know the feeling.  I have been scammed for over 3 BTC from some of these sites.  The key is your research and never trust something that seems to good to be true.

hi to all!

i am just new here because i got a big problem: i sent btc to a wrong wallet address.  Cry    actually the receiver gave me the wrong address and it was not my fault. but anyway i want to ask if there is a chance to get the btc back? or is there at least a chance to find out who the owner of the wallet is so that i can contact the owner and explain the mistake?

i very much hope there is a chance because i dont want to lose them for nothing. i hope someone can help me.

thanks in advance

I think it's the receiver fault because he sent the wrong address. I think it's hard to get the btc back, are you already try to search google the address ? try to find the owner. is the amount big or small ? if big i think it's hard to get the btc back.

OP, have you considered the receiver may just be claiming he didn't get the coin?  To get you to send again?

It has scam written all over it, it looks like this person on purpose gave you his own address saying now this is some 3rd party address now.
I wouldn't trust him.

You're being asked to post the address that you sent it to, or maybe post the txid? This will provide a little more information and may work to your advantage.

oh. sorry.... did not see that.

ok.. the btc address where i sent: 185rNQbi542CqvJvx4V8wvELHsEioAiCjn

if the tx is confirmed once u have no chance getting back your Money. otherwise you could try to delete the tx with pywallet before it gets confirmed, but i dont know if this will work and help  Roll Eyes

I'm beginning to lose faith.  Most that were scammed would post who was person who sent wrong address, the transaction, the amount, so much info. OP has not really provided much yet.

Yes he's posted more but if he would take 10 minutes to type it out he would have so much better chance at help.  But when someone does not do what makes sense.... that's when i lose faith.

But its a lie. It was a clean BTC address never used before, which means the person who sent it to him was the person to generate it. Give us the link to the user on localbitcoin that scammed you.

And do it here, with escrow next time maybe. Personally i don't deal with the hassle, i use Coinbase or used services such as Circle.

I would assume that it is lost unless you know who owned the address and that he is willing to give it back to you.

It's not your fault. Let the guy who gave you the wrong address take the losses. Tell him to refund you. He should have figured it out himself which address is the right one and which is the false one.

i also said so but the guy refuses to refund the btc to me (actually it is not that big amount but for me it was all i had). and i dont understand why i should take the loss. makes me feel so down and desperate  Cry

That guy could be a scammer. He sent you the wrong address deliberately, so that he can claim he did not receive the money. But he actually owns that address.

That was an old method and doesn't work now unless you get someone who is willing to mine it for you(if unconfirmed). If it gets unconfirmed for too long,-zapwallettx would work.

OP, it isn't your fault that he gave you the wrong address. Report him on localbitcoins if he doesn't pay you.

Yeah, this is a clear scam. No question about it. Maybe contact Localbitcoins support or similar? Looking at that address he has already also transferred these funds forward to this address; 1QFE5EyF3MWBA6Vq1v4nd2m4LPzv1KemJ9

How about posting the user account name here that this person has on localbitcoins? Help someone else avoid or identify the thief.

OP does make it really difficult for us to follow him:

1. He wanted to buy something with BTC, and since he did not have any, he bought them on localbitcoins.
2. He got them into his localbitcoin wallet. In my opinion, localbitcoins and the BTC seller did nothing wrong here.
3. He sent the BTC from his localbitcoins wallet to the address given to him by the person from whom he wanted to buy something.
4. That person claims that OP sent to the wrong address, and refuses to complete the deal.

So in my opinion, the person that OP wanted to buy something from is the scammer since he gave OP a wrong address.

It would really be much easier to understand if you listed the steps that you performed instead of giving partial and misleading information.

i am just new here because i got a big problem: i sent btc to a wrong wallet address.  Cry    actually the receiver gave me the wrong address and it was not my fault.

OP, have you considered the receiver may just be claiming he didn't get the coin?  To get you to send again?

He got super scammed, clearly. The "receiver" sent him a BTC address, then went "Oops it was the wrong one." *roll eyes*

Please, common.
Yup I feel the same. Whom received his BTC from him If he loyal person. I am sure He ll return it back, another possibility also there If that wrong btc address guy may be Not active using his wallet. This two may can apply for him.

But its a lie. It was a clean BTC address never used before, which means the person who sent it to him was the person to generate it. I really cant stress enough you are not giving enough info.  What was the person's username that you dealt with on localbitcoins? Can you make screenshot's of him saying wrong address?    Just really go through story once start to finish with all details.  So far you still skip so many details.

If you do it all you might have a scam report... we dont know if you just keep posting so little of story.

Good point. I think I may have read that totally wrong. Though as stated, it would be nice to have gotten all the information up front. Perhaps the community could have been of a little more assistance here in that case.

These are the risks you take. OP has to read carefully and cover their ass when trading.

OP, at least find solace in the fact that it could have been much worse. Could have been 3 BTC lost, or 30 BTC instead of 0.3  Shocked

You're being asked to post the address that you sent it to, or maybe post the txid? This will provide a little more information and may work to your advantage.

oh. sorry.... did not see that.

ok.. the btc address where i sent: 185rNQbi542CqvJvx4V8wvELHsEioAiCjn

Its a clean address that seem to have never been used before, you sent .3 BTC? Really sound like you got scammed you can see that as soon as the money was received, it was moved somewhere else.

I think your "receiver" is scamming you.

The balance is here now;

yes. i got scammed. it is really sad that there are such people. makes me feel very down

I feel sad for your loss and I know the feeling being scammed, though as not big as yours, still it sucks when someone rips you off. You can now move on and start earning back the bitcoins lost, just consider it as a donation to a severely mentally ill person. Karma is now chasing him Cheesy
