Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

99.9% of the time, viruses don't just attack you out of nowhere - rather, the user is to blame Even on Windows, an anti-virus is unnecessary if you know what you're doing. Don't click the wrong 'download' button; check file extensions, etc. Trust no one and trust nothing before doing your research. With the right mindset you can avoid mallard and viruses without a third party scanning through your files and information AVG is bloated, Norton is basically a death sentence for your PC. Kaspersky = Russian intelligence A lady from work had me fix her tablet yesterday - it had the FBI lock on it, LOL. How did she even install it? Her son who 'went to school for IT' couldn't even boot it into safe mode & Uninstaller the app (literally named malware.apk) Stuff blows my mind.

Now a days, which Anti virus is best ?
In free Antivirus Avast and Bitdefender's free versions are best in my opinion and in paid ones Eset and Kaspersky are good. But to be honest if your machine's resources are low then I'd not recommend you to use any antivirus except Windows defender, because all of the third party ones will make your PC slower. Here are good collection http://www.pingzic.com/best-antivirus-programs-for-windows-10-free-and-paid/ of antivirus software and the author has categorized them in Free and Paid ones. Moreover, the author has also mentioned about some Antimalware executable service error that makes PC slower and it occurs because of Windows defender tool, if you face it then also not use the Windows defender and just turn off Windows defender. I hope my reply would help you, if you need anything else, just reply to my answer, I'll reply you soon. Adding links below so you can find the free ones easily, for paid ones just search them on google. I have not used one since about 2005 i think. I -AM- an anti-virus.
i use to look at reports from antivirus.gr way back though.. a scoring / testing site. Kaspersky was always really high (or others that used it's database's)
Last time i had a virus was about 2003 / 2004 when i was asked by a hacker buddy of mine to get him a paid keylogger. He knew i was good at the file sharing stuff.. "Ardamax Keylogger" So.. i tested it while i had it.. on NOD32 and Kaspersky.
Nod32 failed. It let me get infected and failed at removing it.
Kaspersky detected it and prevented it from infecting me. So i disabled Kaspersky and tried again to infect my own PC. Then turned back on Kaspersky and rebooted.. it right away detected it and ask it "remove it ?" I said yes and it removed it properly in 1 attempt.
The version of Ardamax was old too so it should not have been a problem handling a known commercial keylogger.
Have not had a virus since.. 13 yrs later with NO AV. You just need to use your brain..
And maybe on rare occasions use VirusTotal the online testing service (or similar)
I was like you, didn't have an anti virus for years, because I knew how to be careful. But when Windows Defender came out, it's free, comes with the OS, might as well use that. So try that.

I think that today we have not the best antivirus software and it has not be in the future. Because if the antivirus company will make the best antivirus software then they will not have a profit in the future. I have used different antivirus software, such as avira, kaspersky, norton. Now I am using nod32 and it is the best for me Part of being an Anti Virus is staying up to date with the latest vulnerabilities. The best anti virus ever made is not going to stop that fact.

Actually, to my surprise, Malwarebytes worked surprisingly well for me. Something infected my computer and brought some adware to my PC. Obviously this annoyed me a lot, but Avast Premier (the antivirus I have installed) couldn't pick up on it. One scan with the free version of Malwarebytes and it removed it without a problem. Kudos!

Yeah malware bytes is really fast at updating their libraries. With the ability to snipe root kits pretty well.

I liked AVAST antivirus for its friendly interface, nearly imperceptible system impact, sophisticated configuration options and useful extra features, which include a password manager and a network scanner.
