I just came to this thread and Im interested in the chatbox although its optional since Im fine without it. You know some of the locals forum here has a large chatbox but all in all they maintained it in a good condition. I forgot the name of that forum since my last visit there was several years ago.
Heres some of their chatbox guidelines;
1) There is a minimum rank or post count to be able to post in the cb to avoid troll post. The required ranks are pretty high to achieve by trollers so the cb is clean from spam. In this btctalk forum, one should be Sr. Member rank.

2) Posting refs link is not allowed as it will lead to automatic deletion and will be mute for ; first offense ; 1 day; then so on.
3) You cant flood the box because of interval.
4) About the discussion if it will missed, thats why we have a PM option.
5) Chatlogs up to 50 post.
This might help if the new forum will include chatbox but like I said Im fine without it. For regular mobile users, they want a site that easy to load so cb must have its own section and not on the index page if it will consider.
