I don't know.... In addition to the coins which he got from the Silk Road auction (close to BTC30,000 at around $600 per coin), he purchased thousands of additional coins from various exchanges. And right now, it seems that he is almost at break-even.

I can't help but think, what if he decides to dump his coins right now to get back his FIAT? What would happen? He definitely won't get his 60M$ if he panic sells his 30kBTC because there is no such support at this price range. We would see like 100$/BTC i guess.

Yeah, he couldn't do that and not lose money. He has to be it it for the long haul because it will take years for the price to go high enough for him to sell and not crash the price. If he bought at $600 and began selling at $600 the last third of his coins he would be selling below $400 and lose money. He needs the price to be above $1,000 to sell for a profit.

Those who bought at $600 are probably invested for the long haul. They see the potential in bitcoin that is why they can afford buying that much. Besides, the price has reached 4 digits once, there's no reason to believe it isn't going to reach that price again. The only real question is when. And I'm sure this huge investors have the patience to hold until they have profited enough from it.

Still his coins are worth less than $60 million in fiat. When we will get our first Bitcoin billionaire? Li Xiaolai will become a billionaire if the exchange rate rises to $10,000 per coin. But that seems to be a long way off. I am losing patience over the stagnant exchange rates. When we are going to see BTC surging in to the 5-digits?

Why he must be a billionaire? You can afford anything with 60 million usd in fiat. Many villas, yachts, super cars, even small plane and jet only costs several millions usd. He needn't buy a Boeing 747.

10k usd per bitcoin is an impossible thing, how can you imagine that price if btc is 10k usd, damn I could be a millionaire if bitcoin is 10k usd. Bitcoin riches can be very wealthy compare to fiat riches.

Well, Ver is known to be one of the richest Bitcoin users and he seems to be doing fine.

True, the Winklevii claimed a couple years back to have acquired 1% of all Bitcoins if I remember correctly.
Pretty awesome.

I doubt if Roger Ver have any Bitcoins at all, because lately he has been very outspoken against Bitcoin. He is busy pumping Monero now, and once he is finished with that, he will be jumping to the next thing. The pseudo anonymous nature of Bitcoin gives everyone the peace of mind that their financial status would be protected from the thieves of this world.

In some instances the governments are part of these thieves, so it protects you from them too. ^smile^

I know Satoshi is claimed to possess 1.1 million BTC (which would be an insane amount)

But who are the other really large holders and how much do they own? Roger Ver? Gavin Andresen?
I remember someone claiming that Ver owns about 300.000 BTC, is there any place where this is confirmed?

I have checked http://www.bitcoinrichlist.com but they only show adresses and we cant know with certainty which of those are connected.

Are there any confirmed large holders, who openly talk about the amount they possess?
if its actually true they predicted the bitcoin price will go sky rocket lucky for them i wonder where did they got the money maybe they bought it when the price was still less than 0.01$

in my opinion we can't get a real detail whether who hold the btc in large bulk amount because bitcoins is the platform which allows the user a secret & best privacy to hide his detail .
since we can see the some of the official and former member detail that how much they hold buy you need be a member for this to chek detail .

i am quite sure, that every large holder (or let us say 99%) was in early. i would define a large holder as someone with 1000 bitcoins and more. so maybe they mined it or bought it, but like i said 99% of those large holders did it before 2013.

I dont think the richest bitcoin people are known because the bitcoins are all not on name because it is untraceable so you wont know who has the most only if they are saying it.

Chinese English teacher and angel investor Li xiaolai said that he has over 100k btc, must be a top 10 rich guy if the figure is correct

Still his coins are worth less than $60 million in fiat. When we will get our first Bitcoin billionaire? Li Xiaolai will become a billionaire if the exchange rate rises to $10,000 per coin. i think that there might be a need for bitcoin price to increase way more in the future and only then we might see a first bitcoin billionaire

There are just few who are talking openly about there bitcoin holds, I recall theymos opened a thread selling some of his personal coins "and changed his mind" and it was around 1000 BTC. Some members like dooglus seem to have quite a sum but not sure about the exact amount if they ever mention it clearly though.

I never knew anyone who were rich with having bitcoins.  Yes, it should be the developer who is the richest with bitcoin as he was the one who created this masterpiece and was become the reason for every altcoins birth.  I would gladly to meet people who were rich with btc.  I would like to know them and atleast ask them to give me just a part of what they have.  Lol

I'm probably one of the richest bitcoiners in this thread except my riches are rolled up in Bay Area real estate.

Chamath Palihapattiya is on record as saying that he owns ~ 25k coins
Tim Draper probably owns 25 to 50k coins all purchased via exchanges and auctions...

Tim Draper is probably kicking himself right now because his coins are worth less than he paid for them at auction.
hahaha, though if he will hold it enough he is going to be in profit in my opinion so that shouldnt be too big of a deal i guess

I would think Theymos would surely have alot of hundreds of bitcoins so he would surely be one of those users but can not tell how much exactly or near about he own.Nor could any one other tell about it.I also know 1 or 2 guys from lending sites who are holding close to 1500BTC or even more are more in giving loans and investing.

I know Satoshi is claimed to possess 1.1 million BTC (which would be an insane amount)

But who are the other really large holders and how much do they own? Roger Ver? Gavin Andresen?

you are right but another thing that i want tell you , bitcoin is a way to store money in form of btc unit without knowing another person which is privacy . if any person will openly declare that i have large bulk amount of btc then there is very less need of  online bitcoin like wallet for such type of people .
