Antminer S7 Bitmain Power Supply Issue

I have come into the acquisition of an Antminer S7 and *gulp* upon the advice of Amazon, purchased a AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series 1600W Power Supply

Everything seemed well and good when I plugged the power supply into the socket. The fan churned on and everything sounded normal, but the S7 itself was deader than a door nail. I checked the amps and moved to a 15amp socket with no positive effect either. I even tried to power my Antminer S5 to no avail.

And there were these two plugs that confused since one of them had what looked like a feedback connector while the other one did not.

So, is the writing on the wall and I messed up in getting the right Power Supply for the S7, or am I missing a step? My bitcoin comrade thought it was strange that the plug input is the same as many devices used today in computers and PSU even though he doesn't think that kind of cord would work on a 264VAC.

So you're saying the PSU turn on. Did you check the output to see if its supplying 12v? Also, that is pretty odd that you could not power the S5 either. The last guy that could not start his S7 did not plug the 10th connector into the S7 controller, but the S5 does not have that.

Anyways check the PSU's output to see whats it at when you turn it on.

If you have a PSU tester test the PCIe connectors and see what power your getting.  Checking is not a bad idea at all like mentioned.

You say 15amp but how many volts are on circuit?  You will not operate it properly with 110/120 volt.  It say's it on listing (205+ volt required).  That is very true.  I hope you did not pay that amazon amount... it's like a little above 1/2 that on bitmain's site.

you need over 200v, or else it will turn on but will not power the antminer s7.

I had an electrician install a new power outlet in my basement and he modified a connector to fit into the the power supply. My Antminer S7 is up and running!

I had no idea that every outlet in my house was inadequate to power the device.

How much did he charge if you don't mind me asking?  I know when I looked into 240 an having it done by electrician I got an outrageous quote after they saw miners.

What all work did he do?  Add 240 breaker, electricity wire, outlet?  And thanks for sharing.

What all work did he do?  Add 240 breaker, electricity wire, outlet?  And thanks for sharing.

An associate friend of mine who got the miner paid for his service so I don't have a quote on me now, but he was able to hook up a 240 outlet right next to the breaker box within 20 minutes and left me the male end of the plug that would be used to modify a 14g cable. I'll see if I can find a quote for you later on.

Bad news is that I'm not able to use my Amp reader anymore.

That is great then.  I had to resort to doing it with someone who knew a tad more then me as I had done 110, but never 240.  Phil helped a lot to I owe him for help really got me where I had right things ordered.

But after my electrician saw the miners he gave me a quote of over 1 thousand for a small line (5-10 foot) outside of wall including electrical wire, breaker, and outlet + box.    In the end it was probley less then 50-75 dollars or so instead of the 1 thousand quote.... I wont be calling that company again.  I also went a lot bigger for a mining area worked out really good for summer and controlling heat.
