This will feel pretty damn good if/when this day happens. I feel ebay will accept bitcoin before paypal though for obvious reasons.

Why only Amazon and eBay, btc will be accepted by all e-commerce sites soon. The need is to wait and watch btc growing in a
tremendous manner . BTC has capability to be used as a standard currency in whole world soon.

I that is quite impossible to happen like what you said. The whole world will not be using only one standard currency bitcoin either soon or later. That is quite big optimistic.

The main draw back in bitcoin for using it as a standard currency is governments can't track the transactions and they can't put the taxes for these transaction so surely they will not allow to become a standard currency. But it may slowly grow bigger than current size for sure.

They really should. Amazon would face no loss there, since they dont have their own gateway and eBay al PayPal are also seperate companies for some time now, as i aknowledge.

Amazon and eBay are the worlds largest market, so they need to be careful in inventing Bitcoin as a payment. Bitcoin's volatile nature must be concern for them right now, if there are lots of people making use of it, they might start accepting as payment.

I'm looking forward for the day this will become true and actually happen. For now I think they are afraid that they won't make much profits on bitcoin users if they make this service available.
More people would need to adapt to bitcoin in order for this to happen. All these merchants are only looking for profit, if they don't believe in it then they won't set it up.

volatility is not a concern, they can do the same way dell and newegg are doing, dumping at soon as they receive their bitcoin, in automatic way through bitpay for example

they could even benefit from offchain transaction, which would alleviate the whole delay for the transaction confirmation

Yet more people who only care about the Bitcoin price and not the utility of it.

You can already buy stuff on Amazon and eBay with bitcoins.

Start spending your bitcoins people. It can be used as a currency after all.

If Amazon and Ebay start to accept BTC as a currency then we will see the user base multiply very quickly, in turn causing BTC to hit all time highs.

Amazon pays around half all their entire profit yearly just for the transaction fees of the current payment systems they accept, using BTC would greatly increase their profit margin.

It might help to make Bitcoin a bit more popular, but I can't see Amazon making the Bitcoin userbase at least double. The price will most likely rice due to the fact that it is very good news, with a peak as result. People can already purchase stuff with Bitcoin at Amazong via purse.io.

It might be that open bazaar has a bigger long term effect on the price with people keeping their money in bitcoin.  Amazon/ebay would always be big news though.

I agree with you. In order for companies that big as paypal and amazon to accept bitcoin as payment, bitcoin would have to become way bigger and be used by way more people than it has been right now.

This might happen but not soon enough. It can take years for this to happen.

You know what would get Amazon to start accepting Bitcoin?

A bunch of people using Bitcoin to shop at Amazon.

WHICH YOU CAN ALREADY DO.

It would be good to give us more options for payment. I'm surprised they haven't started their own crypto currency

Does Paypal accept bitcoins too now? I know with Neteller you can deposit bitcoins and use their virtual debit cards to shop online. I haven't seen any bitcoin options in my Paypal tabs.

Not only can you buy things on Amazon with bitcoins but you can get things for a 10-20% discount through http://www.purse.io

It's super easy to use and saving money is always good.

I am not 100% sure but I think Paypal offers the merchants payments in bitcoins, but not to the general public like to load your Paypal account with bitcoins and get it exchanged to cash. I am very intrigued to know if I can load my Paypal account with bitcoins right now.

It might trigger a rally for a short time when Amazon states that it will adopt Bitcoin, but I'm not really expecting this to happen. If Amazong happens to adopt Bitcoin, then it's cool, if not, then it's fine too. As some other people here mentioned, purse.io is a great alternative with nice discounts on your purchase. No need to wait for Amazon, start using purse.io and you'll be fine.

Most of us wants to deal directly with Amazon and eBay and pay without using a payment processor or middle man. These guys just scoop up extra fees. I have used Purse.io and

I am happy with their service, but I would much rather buy with Bitcoin directly.  The discounts are the best part of the deals, if you work through them.

In some countries you are allowed to drink and you can legally drive a car at 18, but with purse.io you need legal supervision. See this part in their ToS :

" if you are between the ages of 13 and 18 (or the age of legal majority under applicable law), you may only use the Services under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older. "

After Amazon and PayPal have split they should not be mixed. Do not be surprised if at one point Amazon will create a new payment sytstem and the bitcoin will be one of the options.
