Yes. These coins have a dedicated development team, and most of all, innovation. Cardano (ADA) has been able to provide a Proof of Stake smart contracts platform earlier than Ethereum. Since it has been verified to be secure, it will certainly retain its place on the market. Perhaps, once ADA releases lightwallets and wallets for other operating systems, we would be able to see greater growth in its price over the long term. It is only the beginning, and I believe that it would become much more valuable than what it is right now. As such, it would be wise to buy ADA while it’s still cheap.

On the other hand, Komodo is also a great buy since it not only provides ZCash's tried and tested privacy technology, but it is also a platform for price-stable currencies, and its security is based on Bitcoin itself with its dPoW consensus algorithm. In this regard, Komodo may become one of the most secure altcoins in existence. Current prices for KMD are cheap as I believe that I may become much more valuable in the long term. If you compare other ZEC based coins, you'll notice that they have a much higher value than Komodo. - substratum (sub) is going to release its beta very soon (jan, maybe feb) which will be an amazing product, likely to boost the coin price dramatically. you can earn additional sub by running a node and at the same time you get access to websites blocked in your country, similar as with vpn, but much harder (nearly impossible) to be banned.
- iota has an incredible team of people and revolutionary technology that might make blockchains obsolete in the long run. since it had a quite stable price the last month despite some big announcements, a lot of people expect that it will break out soon.
- deeponion (onion) and spectrecoin (xspec) are nice privacy coins with low mcap and staking rewards. they have given nice gains over the last weeks but are now on a low point due to the general altcoin bleed. i expect one of them giving 10-100x in 2018.

I've been reading through this forums for the past few weeks and all I see is "this coin is dead" or "everything is a shit coin". Is there any alt coin with potential to invest in or is it only bitcoin? I don't mean like a few here and there, I mean over 100 coins.

One coin I find fascinating really is the ADZ coin. it used to be only few satoshis now its around 3000 satoshi. The designer is quite genuine about his activity and appear as though they do have plans to discount as movement agent later on.

Now the Cryptocurrency market is very unstable, so if you invest in a long, it's probably the only bitcoin. All altcoins are very dependent on bitcoin and investing in long ones would not become them (except for a few coins)

Right now I think Etherium Classic and NEO has a lot of potential to grow. If I were you I would be buying these for sure. Also look into GAS. Apart from these look into NEO based ICO's with low hard cap such as THEKEY.
