Hello all, I am having a bit of trouble with my SP20. I am having issues with one of the loops being disabled. I have not tried a different PSU as I dont have one worthy. I have tried switching around the PCIe cables to see if it was a power issue. I am using a EVGA Supernova 1300 G2. I have tried a factory reset even as well as different firmware versions and even tried using the sd card to boot. The problem started when I tried lowering the watts. Last night I even removed all the heat sinks from each hashing board cleaned all the chips and sinks real well and applied fresh thermal paste. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I have a bad board? Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to look into this for me. Try removing and resetting the other connectors. Otherwise, looking like it might be a Rockerbox chip gone bad.

It also looks like you've set the fan speed to 20. That seems too low for your power settings, and is reflected in the temperatures on the otjher ASICs. I don't expect that will revive the loop that's down, but you might want to turn it off and let it cool for at least 30 minutes to see if that helps. I personally get nervous when I see chip temps in excess of 100C on my SP20.

IMO temps up to 110 are fine. 115+ is a sign your settings need a slight adjustment Few steps to check for hardware issues: 1) confirm that PCIe connector is properly seated, delivering power, not burnt out at all 2) open up unit. inspect blade for signs of damage (such as a burn mark or chipped components) 3) reseat all data connectors. Swap which sides the blades are on to rule out a cable/controller issue 4) this should have been about 30min without power. 5) reassemble everything, put SP20 in a warm (>20C) room, and even hit it with a blowdrier if you have one handy. if the board is 25-30C when you start the unit, that might be your best chance of mitigating any thermal issues on the ASIC-init. if these dont identify/resolve the issue, its a bad chip or other failed component. not much can be done about that at this point unless the marketplace on the forums will buy/sell it

Hey guys, I have a new question. Something strange happened today with my SP20 so I rebooted it. When it came back up I am unable to access it using the web gui. I am however able to access the SP20 using SSH with Putty.
I am wondering how to do some of the things I would do using the web gui but in ssh. Such as, what commands would I use to restart the mining process( minergate in the web gui).
I know I can probably just do an SD boot or SD recovery and instantly sort this out but I am trying to learn how to do this stuff via command line using SSH with Putty. That way I can get an understanding on how all this works.
Also, is there a list compiled somewhere of the known command SP20 commands to get things accomplished? I know the basics such as using the vi /etc/mg_custom_mode
How do you check your mining status in SSH as well?
Thanx in advance for answering this newbies dumb questions......

I suppose you might be able to make them. Or perhaps find someone with a bad unit that you could buy for parts. I would like to get a good hashing board and a spare controller possibly. The spare hashing board is most important to me. What would you let one of your hashing boards go for?

Hi i have 3 sp20s and out of all of them i haven't got 1 fully working hash board i also need a controler board for a s35 wich i canot even get from spondooles (none in stock)

Sure is strange how that helps but it does. My controller that I thought was bad I got it to boot eventually using an sd card. Then I let it mine for 2 weeks and the controller seems to be good again. Sometimes it glitches and I do an SD Boot or recovery and it is then good again. If I could just get the loop 3 to come up again I'd be a happy camper but I cant. So for now my sp20 mines at 1-1.1TH and is pulling about 670 watts. I used the command vi /etc/mg_max_asic_temp and entered 7 to set the max temp to 120c instead of 125c and I am getting much better/stable results. Using Putty/SSH I log into my miner and enter vi /etc/mg_custom_mode. I then hit the insert button which allows me to edit the configuration. Right below is what I am using for my settings: FAN:05 VS0:700 VS1:700 VS2:700 VS3:700 VMAX:710 AC0:288 AC1:288 AC2:288 AC3:288 DC_AMP:170
I then hit the esc button. Then I enter :wq and hit enter to save the config. Then I hit restart minergate on the web gui to have the changes to take effect. Below is a screenshot of the results when looking at the ASIC Stats on the miners web gui. Please keep in mind that I am no expert. I just started playing with this sp20 using SSH a couple weeks ago. Perhaps if I would have played with SSH a year ago when I got this unit I wouldn't have lost Loop 3............ No I am in the USA(Gettysburg, PA). I see Loop 1 is bad on your readout. But I notice that in Loop 2 you have 4: disabled (User disabled). Is there a reason you have ASIC 4 disabled? What is your Voltage limit set to? In the past I used to set mine to .790 thinking that the higher the voltage the higher the GHs. I find that to not necessarily be the case. Higher voltage gives higher heat and more power consumption but not always more GHs. I find with my unit it's sweet spot is around .712 to .715. At least for the fan speed I am using...... Here is my readout last night. Voltage Limit at .712 and Fan at 05%. 1015 GHs and 650 watts used. And my ASIC's temps were at 110c. Please keep in mind that I am no expert. I just started playing with this sp20 using SSH a couple weeks ago. Perhaps if I would have played with SSH a year ago when I got this unit I wouldn't have lost Loop 3............
No I am in the USA(Gettysburg, PA). I see Loop 1 is bad on your readout. But I notice that in Loop 2 you have 4: disabled (User disabled). Is there a reason you have ASIC 4 disabled? What is your Voltage limit set to? In the past I used to set mine to .790 thinking that the higher the voltage the higher the GHs. I find that to not necessarily be the case. Higher voltage gives higher heat and more power consumption but not always more GHs. I find with my unit it's sweet spot is around .712 to .715. At least for the fan speed I am using......
Here is my readout last night. Voltage Limit at .712 and Fan at 05%. 1015 GHs and 650 watts used. And my ASIC's temps were at 110c.
I did set in Putty/SSH the max ASIC temp as 115c.

From my personal experience, the error you got at the loop 3 can be related to the controller board.
I have one of those controller with the same issue. One loop had a test serial failure all the time. I couldn't make it work again but the hashing is board is all good. I tested it with another controller.
My guess, it's your controller. Not much you can do ... I bought a controller from spoon like 2 months ago when the BTC spiked ... The first one i received was badly packaged and was damaged but they sent me another one right away that was perfect.

Thanx for that reply Herb. I'll try switching the hashing boards to see if I can get loop 3 to come up. I think I tried that in the past and the defective loop changed. I think that pointed to the board rather than the controller. If I am thinking correct, If I switch the boards and the same loop 3 isnt communicating then it is probably the controller but if the bad loop changes then its probably the hash board. Am I thinking correct? I'll play a bit later today.... aladinsain Also, on the web gui there is a help tab. On the help tab is a readme that gives some SSH examples. Are you sure your PSU is totally good?
