I have recently registered at bit-x and saw I could buy gh/s.
Can I use those gh/s to mine bitcoins, or is it just trading only?

You can't directly use the GHS. Think of them like any other currency holding, you can trade or sell it, the value goes up and down. However you get paid by its GH/s income minus the "hosting/maintnance"+whatever fee. Its a share of a miner, instead of share of a coin.

You'll have to check individual stats but they would be hard to compare because HashNest sell shares of specific miners at different rate. HashNest would probably also have many time more the volume, but i did not verify that myself.

Well, a little, until it is expended. You need to check how much it would really earn, but it would not be comparable to how much you would make if you mined at home on a good electricity rate.

Ghash.io has GH/s that the mining was disabled because profitability was too low. People still trade them in the hope that they will be worth something in the future, since BTC profitability went much higher.

However when it was very profitable to turn them back on, nothing happened, so...

Its pretty much a low chance gamble, yes. Right now it has purely speculative value.
IF the GHS get reactivated mining wise or whoever owns the GHs get compensated somehow, the value of those GHS shares could triple or beyond.

Its pretty much like gambling on an Altcoin rising or such.

Yeah but what we're all saying right now is that Cex.io is not actually mining. Their GHs shares are inactive.
So you can earn some BTC post fees over the GHS at Bit-x, but apparently not at Cex.io.
