Why rent GPUs when service provider can eat straight from the pot

Because:

1. service providers can't MITM a TLS connection that does client certificate verification, so the pot is for my eyes only.
2. service providers don't have a 25+ years experience in writing software from scratch.
3. assuming 1 and 2 don't hold, and the computation results get intercepted by some miracle, they'd need to cooperate, since the solution requires data obtained from multiple instances.
4. it's the only way to do it, until someone comes out with a few dozens of ASICs
5. I don't ever plan on buying thousands of top-end GPU only to have them obsoleted in 2 years.

I'm gratefull for NoMachine1's Cyclone, also knowing that there are people around there with programming skills able to change CPU versions for use with GPU, and also knowing that the game has changed from BTC mining to BTC puzzle finding. Yeah, 2000 GPUs is a thing. Nevertheless, I'll keep trying with my 5 M keys /s...

My guess.. Who could have access to gpu farm and is able to manage/build tools?
Have no idea because i dont run brute force service to recover stuff with huge gpu farm..

I wonder what is more profitable with a huge GPU farm, just mining BTC or brute forcing puzzles)

There is no theory; this is just a theoretical example. Try integrating this into an existing SECP256K1 implementation. Get one of them to sit next to you while you program the ECDLP solver. You will need it.
