Tell them to download the blockchain.info app or something and send them one satoshi using your own phone. Tell them that cost you alot, and that there are faucets out there which give out thousands of satoshi.

Mindfuck.

Ask them to make an account on this forum.Just keeping reading trough random posts in different sections for about a month, that would be enough for them to know everything about bitcoins at a newbie level.
And also have to tell them to continue to post and also tell them that if the higher the level the higher the pay.
Because it will make them interested

There is really no good way to present or show Bitcoin to new users. But I would just tell them that Bitcoin is an online currency and it is the first ever cryptocurrency. I would explain how it is just like Paypal except better, because most people use Paypal to pay for things online. Don't start explaining how mining works and all that kind of junk. Even I don't fully understand that and I have been using Bitcoin for quite some time. Mostly because I was never interested in learning about it.

If you try to explain them how the underlying tech works (blockchain, mining process, what is centralized vs decentralized, open vs closed source software) they will look at you as if you are a mad scientist disconnected from reality. Unfortunately it's too hard to explain this to casuals.. specially when they have no idea how current money tech works to begin with.

Coming to understand bitcoin is always a hard and a little bit complex thing. You therefore need to make sure that the method you are using is easy to have the newbie get into action faster. One way I can advise is that of taking the newbie and mentoring him or her. Let them follow what you do on a daily basis, there is always the power in learning on the task itself. Just guide them until they reach a place they have proper understanding. Do trade with them and share some profits together.

Best way to explain bitcoin is to explain it in the way you see bitcoin through your eyes. That's the way I've been doing it.
Some people become interested in it so they start asking questions themselves, some who are not interested at all just don't bother to ask about it.

Tell them it´s a digital currency.

Nope that's not enough. Most of today's currencies are already in digital form.
You have to tell a bit more. Say you can send it like e-mail, only with copying it. That it is like Bittorrent. A network without an entity who controls it, like a bank for instance.

It is best to treat your friends with beer. Then you say that beer is purchased through Bitcoin. After that, they will begin to ask questions. This is the best advertising!
