Hello, I'm quite new to writing on this forum, and I'm coming to you for some help.
I have recently tried to purchase BTC from nanaimogold through western union money transfer. All information was sent timely, and I also requested same day delivery option. I double checked all the information I written down initially was correct. It's been a day after that same day delivery date. Still no BTC. Should I be worried?
I saw that nanaimogold was very respected on this forum from past posts, but they were quite old (+1 year at least) and wanted a fresh opinion on this matter. Since it is my first dealing in BTC, I am not sure if this kind of lateness and such are to be expected.
There was indeed a hiccup with the money transfer itself, because my local bank only did them in USD, and in my order, I wrote Euros. I have sent the almost equivalent amount (in fact a little bit more due to rounding up) in USD, so that should not be the problem. I also wrote them multiple times, and no replies to any of those emails.
Through the online tracking of WU money transfer, it says "The money transfer was sent to the Receiver's bank. The Receiver should contact the bank for confirmation," with the mark "money received." The email for the order confirmation said "Your bitcoin address blahblahwill be funded with blahblah bitcoin soon after your transfer is received." Doesn't that mean the order should be complete by now?
Please help out a newbie with this. I may be worried too much, but want to see what others think of this situation. Also, nanaimogold seems to be quite active on this forum, so they may see this post and hurry up with the order?
Thanks in advnace!

How did you contact him originally or did he contact you? I can see from his post history that it has been over a year since he has posted. I wouldnt worry too much yet but obviously it is a concern that his account may have been hacked. It just seems strange to buy from him being that he seems to be inactive. Some more information would be helpful.
Edit:- i can see he has a website, did you ever actually make contact with him before you even bought?

Never heard of nanaimogold, why not use any trusted online exchange? How could he contact nanaimogold if he has been inactive for 1 year+?

Unfortunately it looks like he hasnt even been on bitcointalk since December 20, 2014, 11:38:42 so im doubtful you will get in contact with him through here unless you get lucky and one of the old member knows him personally. Next time i reccomend using something like localbitcoins as its well trusted. I hope someone can be of more help.

It was originally through couple of recommendations from my friend, and he was one of them. Others either didn't offer service anymore or I couldn't pay them from the country I am in right now from methods they wanted. In short, there weren't that many options available from the country I am in right now to buy BTC. The way it worked was that I fill out an order, and an initial email of the order (seems auto generated) comes. It says to wait till the order is reviewed, then I will get the sender information. I send the WU money transfer, submit the mtcn number, then an email (also seems auto generated) comes to reply them with the receipt pic. Here is why I trusted this service (additionally, there were no posts about the website that was recent. He made posts and replies up until very recently, I just couldn't find a recent one from another person other than him that made a post about him). The receiver information of the Western Union money transfer matched the information from the posts made before on here. Those posts seemed quite trusting of this service, and at times, the writer was at blame for not providing the right info. My friend also dealt with him, but couple of years ago as well. He contacted me through the email that I provided; the content seemed copy and pasted type, but they were emails of instructions, so I expected them to be like that. And the email address matched the FAQ on their website, that it won't be from a typical email address like sfjsfj@ dsoijfsofj.com. Here's the website for anyone interested: https://www.nanaimogold.com/Idk, I had barely few options and this seemed like the best one from my judgement and circumstances... Local bitcoins didn't offer anything around my country, that was the problem...ugh I guess I need to be lucky with this or cancel this money transfer if that's possible?

AFAIK you cant charge back western union transaction. The site seem legit on paper, but i can't tell. However some prominent online exchange accept credit, WU and bank transfer, so i'd probably go with that next time.

I am sorry, but from what we see here with his activity, there is a strong chance that he may have been hacked or someone was claiming to be him when they were not. It is hard to say not to be worried, but I would do some research before you choose to this next time. An escrow would have been a great thing here. Did they collect the money from WU yet?

I have heard that before. I would stop advising that, instead just say trade carefully or trade at your own risk because you never know when someone so trusted decides to do become untrusted.

Man you should've come here first and explain your situation, there are people from all over the world here, I'm sure somebody would've been able to advise you as to the best way for you to acquire Bitcoins. I tested a similar site last year, I sent 0.04 BTC to be converted to USD and sent to my PayPal, I never got my money. I hope you only sent him a small amount to test the service. Unfortunately you can't charge back a WU transaction. You can only wait at this point and hope the guy's just been busy and will get back to you. Good luck.

Don't think the site's been updated since 2013 as evident from looking at the bottom of the page where it says "copyright 2005-2013". The contact feature looks suspicious as there are no telephone numbers for customer support. Like shady if you ask me. And then the fact that " Nanaimo" hasn't been online for over a year. Please try to be more careful next time. Am a noob myself and the idea of getting duped scaresme. Hope that's not the case with you and you get your Bitcoins as promised

there is something fishy here "..It was originally through couple of recommendations from my friend.."
So the suggestion was made by that your friend?
Is that your friends a registered member on this forum? If so, can you let the admin be aware of his NICKNAME.
I hope this is not a backside game. Since, the guy in question has not been active on this forum.

Unluckily western union couldn't being charged back as paypal so you haven't many solution unfortunately, you have just to wait and contact their support often to try resolving this issue for you, but it's not guaranteed. Try using trusted exchanges the next time

May i ask what summ are we talking about? You probably got scammed as this user isn't active anymore. Next time use coinbase.com or something like that, not some random service, i didn't even hear about this site till now.

Stick to exchanges like coinbase to purchase, or search for a Bitcoin ATM in your area. Could also try local bitcoins or someone here on the site might sell you some.

Doesn't really look good to be honest.. What was the amount involved? Something you can manage to lose?
Better to use exchanges nowadays, there are a lot of options available, greatly reducing this risk if you use the reputable ones.
