@philipma1957 Before you mention running it at 11.75v for a lower noise, and now I'm scared leaving mine running at 11.7v, since you mention it should be between 11.8v-12.2v. Should I be scared you think?

I don't think underclocking can result in dmg. Likely just bad performace but you should confirm it with Avalon or BlockC to be 100% sure.

For now, I would play by the rules until further information.

Back at pc.

This is your gui min-max

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6

Basic Information

PSU requirements:
Minimum 1100W output, recommend to use high-quality PSU for server
with more than 1200W output and high quality power cable.
Input voltage no lower than 11.7V and no higher than 12.2V (numbers
take from the controller)
Lower voltage leads to lower hashrate and higher voltage leads to
possible device burning down.
NOTICE: Poor quality cable may result in low voltage

under the 11.7 = lower voltage leads to lower hashrate

and higher voltage over the 12.2v   leads to possible device burning down.

so going under 11.7 on the gui is not a big deal.

going at 12.3v and above = possible burn out  .

My gui was at 12.5 or 12.6  and my hash was at 3850 - 3950

I used a finksy/j4bberwock  dual psu to do this.

basically because I scanned the info

and found this

2015-11-24
Version 601511-f4f59c70
Update Core test check rules
Update Input voltage check rules (Input voltage should not >= 12.8V)
Fix result when run test scripts

I was at 12.5 or 12.6 and thought I was good to go.

I was hoping that ..

So far still waiting for an answer to pm and email.  but make no mistake this is my error.

I want people to know that max reading on the gui for volts needs to be under 12.3 not under 12.8 as I thought

I could always send it to sidehack and see if he could build some usb sticks from it.

Yan will be sending me an avalon6 replacement board.  Not free of charge which is fair since I burned it from my stupidity.

He did give me a discount for running the group buy.

So to all avalon6 owners  do not use a psu with more then 12.5 volts  and when you check the gui make sure it is under 12.3 volts

I want to thank Yan for the replacement part in advance.

Yeah it will cost me ,but  not full.    Full replacement price is about  500 + shipping.

It is only fair that I pay since I was running it at 12.7 psu side  12.5 gui side

this gear is voltage driven

12.2 is the safe max at gui  on the screen  and gets around 3450 to 3550gh

top setting is freq 500.

it is pretty good if you have  a slightly hot psu  say 12.3 or 12.4 volts at the psu  which will drop to 12.2 volts at the gui.

most atx are 12.0 to 12.1 and drop to 11.8 or 11.9 at the gui  you get 3200gh or 3250gh

Yeah my evga 1300 is at 11.9 would like to push it a little bit more.  Undecided I guess I need a server psu with voltage.
Any good psu that you can ajust the voltage and that are 120v ?

Got off the phone with Yan today he will be sending the replacement hashing board today  and 1 small blue adapter.

He passed along some info about the samsung walwarts they are rated at 2 amps but there are dud ones that do not put out 2 amp.  This in turn underpowers the rasp pi which in turn under powers the little blue adapter.  I will test this and demo during the week.

well as pissed as I was about killing off the 1 hashing board.  I got some good news and info to share about the 2980 or the 2880 psu's.

Right now I developed a low cost fan mod and really improved the sound and the power use for the fans.

I am running 2 ½ avalon6's and they are doing 10 amps on the 2980  plat psu.  that is 2400 watts but once I go to 10 amps my decimal drops off.

if it is a flat 10 amps it would be 2400 watts.  but it could be more like 2520 watts.

my hashrate is 6775 + 1801 = 8576   so  2400/8576 = .2798 watts a gh  better then the newer s-7's

of course with the amps at 10.5 it is 2520 watts and 2520/8576 = 0.2938 watts a gh  a hair better then the newer s-7's

The fan mod may not work at a higher load of 3 full avalon6's  so if I did not burn up the board I would not have tested this.

the fan mod cost about 30 for the first 2980/2880  and then about 22 for any after.

watts for the fans drop from 60 to under 25  ..

once I fully test this mod I will reveal exactly how to make it .

I will also show the install of the replacement hash board.

What are the symptoms of "This in turn underpowers the rasp pi which in turn under powers the little blue adapter." Does it hash slower? or Does it mean it won't power it at all?

Wondering if I should just replace the Samsung wall plug to be safe.

the symptom  is the blue light does not light on the adapter stick.

you get zero hash.

so you don't need to replace the samsung you just need to have a spare 2amp 5volt on hand.

I did test all of them and all worked. Yan indicated it was more of a case of not working right at  the start
