That will happen with nearly all mining programs as they contain the mining software (which mostly causes such kind of alerts).
If you dowload it from the OP (Claymore's link), you should be save. Just don't download from unreliable sources or quoted posts.

Yes, You can still mine the GPU rig. Select from the pool of new coins being released. Mine it. Hold it. Sell it on exchanges once the coin hits an exchange. It's all profit. So keep your rigs safe and mine new coins of your choice. Convert them into btc later. But if you think selling that hardware is profitable than mining. I would suggest you to sell it.

Miners always flag AV. Usually false positive, but you can't be sure. Claymore's software is probably okay though, if you get it directly from him.

There are also open source cryptonote miners now.

You can set it to mine X11 only or you can use the multpool mode, so Nichhash can change to the optimum algorithm for you.

Probably because Gridcoin is an absolute nightmare to setup, the wallet takes hours to days to sync and the money you make is rarely even enough to pay for electricity.

Not saying it's not a lofty idea, but most people here aren't going to jump through those hoops to lose money or barely break even. I love the idea of Gridcoin, but in its current state? Not so much.
