1 satoshi doesn't really constitute a fee (yet?): maybe 100.000 satoshi might work. Smiley

I know it's not high, but it would be a sort of "Proof of Stake". I don't exactly consider the advice of a bunch of twenty-something unemployed SA goons with absolutely no exposure to non-fiat currency and an obsession with "lolbertarian"-bashing valid.

I would pay for the forum but only a small fee.

What about allowing the users to choose between:
a) a free account with adverts
b) a paid account without adverts

If money's needed, I guess I wouldn't mind watching some adverts on every page.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

I think they have around 5,000 BTC just sitting around in the forum account and theymos could not find projects to spend it on.
Charging even a small BTC price would stop people who do not yet have BTC from joining, which is not a good thing.

OP wants to turn this forum into somethingawful.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

That would be an improvement. Being able to buy douchebags a subtitle that literally says "I'm a douchebag" is an awesome feature, no matter how you spin it.  Grin

One good thing about SA is that they have quality control police. You shitpost, you get banned. You want to return, you pay again. Can you imagine how orderly these forums would be if that were instated here? Dare I say I'd actually be proud of the forums.

There won't ever be a mandatory fee. That would significantly reduce the forum population.

I like donation only, but more effort should be made to gather donations.  Maybe those most concerned should but a bitcointalk.org donation link in their signatures?

The forum is far from low on money. Donations are appreciated, but no one should feel obligated to donate.

I like theymos's logical thinking.
