Bitcoin-QT v0.11.2 on Ubuntu keeps crashing with "Error reading from database"

Hi all!

I hope you can help me with my problems that started ~ 2 months ago:
I was not able to start bitcoin-qt anymore because of the error stated in the subject "Error reading from database".

• After that I tried to re-index and after re-indexing it still did not work with the same error message.
• Then I deleted the data directory .bitcoin (after backing up wallet.dat) and downloaded the blockchain again - still the same problem.
• Finally I decided to download the "bootstrap.dat" file but now I am facing the same problem again.

I have no more ideas how to solve this issue - please help :-(

DB corrupted quickly after core started.

Thanks for the hint - I tried a different harddisk now and started again (bootstrap.dat) - but once again :-(

It looks like you have a corrupted block on the disk. The only way to fix that is to resync everything.

It seems that hopefully the problem is solved now:
In the past I used the bitcoin-qt package which was downloadable - I now switched to the Ubuntu PPA and started once more from scratch but now it works.
