YA rig question - gaming / mining

I was planning on buying a gaming rig in the near future, but after hearing about bitcoin, decided to change it so that it could do mining as well.
The basic system is n i5-2500k,

1 SSD, 1 5400 sata drive and a dvd burner.

Originally when I was going for gaming it was going to be a midrange graphic card and PSU to match.

With mining though, I was starting to think maybe 3x 6950 but I have no idea how much PSU I would need, and don't know if they will all fit in the case and on that motherboard.

Can anyone sugguest what PSU I would need, or if I should use 2 PSU and if so will they slot into that case or will I need one that supports 2 PSU?
Alternatively, if there a better combination of video cards to use with a different case or motherboard?

As I said, primarily I want it for gaming, so don't want to deviate from the base system too much, but want to add on better mining ability, which could then be sold off when the bubble burst and still leave me with a gaming rig

It will fit, but you wont have access to the ports on the far right side. 1000W should do it as far as psu goes.

As far as your combo, you should get 1300mhz with that config. I would suggest that if you can, try to obtain 3x5830 and save $600 with that money, you could almost build a 2nd machine with the same config.

I did have the thought of 1 good card for my gaming, 2gb 6950, and go with something more cost effective for the other 2, but can't get any 58xx cards where I am at all, so those aren't really much of an option.

likewise don't have best option in PSU's. Seems like the decent brands like Corsair / Antec only go up to 750, though there is a corsair tx850.
This is why I was thinking 2x PSUs might be better, especially since it will get me enough 6pin plugs for all the cards.

Anyone else got comments before I start pulling the trigger?

I decided to go with the Silverstone Strider 1200W Gold PSU, and
Antec 902V3 case which has 8 exp slots instead of 7 that my earlier one had.

I like the idea of having plenty of headroom after already blowing one PSU this week, but just having room to expand more would be good as well.

Couple more general issues, sorry for the bumping, want to keep them all together rather then start new threads.

Is UPS a good idea? Seems like they can get very expensive and not sure what size I would need, and wether the more affordable one, 1-$200 are sufficient for this system and possibly 1 other smaller one I would like to put on it.

Also, my plan was to have 2 of the cards dedicated to mining and the 3rd to gaming and mining. Anyone know how the gaming will be with that 3rd miner turned off but the other 2 still running in the background?

A solid 1000w power supply should be enough. OCZ or CORSAIR are all good selections.

thanks, though the silvertone 1200watt gold is signifantly cheaper then the corsair 1000 that I can get in my area, and the reviews I've checked out suggest it's a good brand.
