Ok I have read through the whole thread and still have one simple question:

Isn't everything that Radium does also possible with the Bitcoin Blockchain?

Why does it have to be a fancy self created "Smartchain"?

i suggest you read it again

or are you just trolling with newbie account?  Angry

Not really. Would love to have a serious answer.

i think you missed the link on OP to smart chain thread

read more here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1322856.0

Thanks. I already read the smart chain thread before but still could not grasp why this would not work to build on top of the original blockchain.

Would appreciate an explanation.
Well as a simple answer, its closed source and wasn't built for the bitcoin chain.. im sure it could be modified to work on top of bitcoin, but there would be serious drawbacks. JJ and TM chose to create this ecosystem and thats why the smartchain is on top of the radium blockchain.

As a list of the top of my head the advantages and disadvantages of putting the Smartchain on top of bitcoin would be:
Advantage - Correct me if I'm wrong, Factom I believe uses Bitcoins OPReturn to store hashes. A Smartchain on BTC could operate the same way as the hash meets the 80 byte space available from OPReturn.
Disadvantage - Im guessing Radium's OPReturn is huge sized to fit Smartchain text notes, though Im not sure the exact mechanism. At this time it costs 1 Radon token to store 20 bytes. Obviously its cost prohibitive to store the entire War & Peace novel but theres limited space on Bitcoins blockchain where as Radiums blockchain has 20 MB blocks allowing for serious growth to happen before any revisiting of the code would need to happen. With Bitcoin already being choked just on tx data, Im not sure how fond people would be of having to store other peoples text data (proof of existence.)
Disadvantage - As the storing of text notes or file hashes for verification comes with a one time RADON token fee, if the Smartchain was built on bitcoin, the fees paid out to create RADON and to spend it would be given out to the large Bitcoin miners as Bitcoin, instead of the POS network contributors. Since anyone holding coins with an open wallet can contribute and be rewarded I feel like its an incentive to use something like this or similar. Everyone has the chance to participate, and trade some storage and bandwidth for rewards. Just running a bitcoin node does not offer this (I know, I run one. and even at setgenerate 1 it does not pay shit!)

So to recap, while the smartchain likely could be adapted to parse usernames and address linkage along with the factom like file hash storage and verification on top of bitcoin's network the Radium blockchain was adapted to fit these features easier than Bitcoins existing tx situation. Meanwhile anyone can be rewarded for holding coins and contributing to the network (by storing the chain) through POS rewards, but also with rewards in a POS block they solve which include Radium used to decay Radon, and again when Radon is used as a fee to use a Smartchain utility.

Also its been mentioned just like factom wants to allow hashing onto Ethereum, the Smartchain here in the future (not immediately) would like to be able to store at least proof of existance file hashes and verification on other blockchains as well.

Sorry I typed this quick and am out the door, if anythings blatantly wrong apologies in advance.

nice explanation! impressive possibilities!
thnx!

I have a problem, I sent 4497.62102223 RADS to my desktop wallet address: Xpm6jzkJH4ZMk3j2pAHBaxaHuFhiF37WeG, txID: c2404d36c39f408e85975d3aa8e370c1d56bdeffd276854bd2829f99dc7ea906 but the funds have not shown up or are not showing in that wallet address since yesterday when transacions were very fast up until now. The exchange I sent them from says the withdrawal has cleared on their side, has this been an issue for anyone else or should I update the wallet in some way? I'm quite interested in this project and was receiving decent rewards from staking this week but if these coins don't show up I won't be buying any more and may just dump the rest of the coins I have since I can't be sure coins I send between wallets will even show up at the other side of the transaction. If someone knows  the solution to this or has experienced this problem already help would be greatly appreciated.

Would you be able to take a screenshot of your situation? The coins are confirmed at your address, as shown by the block explorer: http://chain.blockpioneers.info/radium/search.php?id=c2404d36c39f408e85975d3aa8e370c1d56bdeffd276854bd2829f99dc7ea906

Yes, here are a few screenshots of what I'm seeing, http://imgur.com/a/tIE8r

First pic shows what my current dashboard/wallet looks like, I sent out 2 payments that showed up no problem.

Second pic shows my transactions and shows 4497.82 RADS being sent out, I later changed my mind and wanted to send them back but that transaction does not show up here.

Third pic shows the funds showing up at Bittrex then being sent back out again.

Fourth pic shows my address book or addresses.

Fifth shows an address I should be able to receive payments to.

I'm unsure if I'm trying to send or receive payments to the correct addresses given the last 2 screenshots but everything had worked fine up until now.

Have you withdrawn to the address Xpm6jzkJH4ZMk3j2pAHBaxaHuFhiF37WeG before? Because the addresses in your address book are not the addresses of your wallet. The addresses in your address book are those which you have either added manually, or sent to in the past. Unless there is information that I am missing, you may have sent your coins to an address which you do not own.

Edit: After some further inspection, there is address linkage and previous transaction history. Are you 100% certain that you are using the wallet which has the private key to that address?

Do a test send of like 10 coins... if they don't go through, I would delete all files except wallet.bat and then re-sync wallet.

im not an expert but it looks like an address youve sent to before was selected. as others suggest, check your exchange accounts if your using c-cex or yobit for rads along with bittrex. or if you have an older version of the wallet and your new wallet doesnt have that address... i guess write back and let us know if its not on an exchange.. or if youve used multiple wallet.dats and have backups we can walk you through steps to check if your hesitant to make changes to checl. (never delete or overwrite a wallet)

$MAID & $BTC other than that some short hodls and some long held garbage.

Ok thanks for the help everyone, sorry for the confusion, looks like I did send it to another exchange. Couldn't figure it out and thought I had only sent coins to bittrex and c-cex, forgot about yobit.

Stick to single exchange and watch out for that one there is a news bout withdrawals being locked up, don't know if it was troll in the chat or had faced actual problem.

Hello everyone, a quick Sunday night update: The next release will most likely be a cross-platform Python client for Radon asset generation and transfer. I can not give a time frame for completion at this point, but it is in the works.

Any news regarding new exchanges?
None thus far. More and more users have been contacting Poloniex, so that is a step in the right direction. We have contacted three major Chinese exchanges, one of which expressed interest. However, they would like to see an in-depth translation of the project first. We are in contact with a translation team, in order to attempt to get that process in motion. We will have one more announcement today regarding a new official team member.

that's good, you've tried to insert it into the market. My advice, the sooner these coins were in the market will be more credible to others. oh yes, the price will certainly strength.
