Is it a sin to gamble?

I suppose this would depend on the religion and what you view as gambling, think it's safe to say in most if not all religions greed is a sin and most people would gambling to gain more of what they have.

From what I know, every religions doesnt allowed they follower to do gambling and more counties around the world mark gambling as illegal action. So, gambling for most people is a sin. If you affraid on the next life you will to go to the hell then avoid to do it.

Most dictionaries define sin as a transgression against a divine law.

What divine law is gambling going against?

To me, gambling is just placing a wager/money on an uncertain outcome. If the outcome is in your favor, you get your money back plus extra. If the outcome is not in your favor, you lose your money. Where in this does anyone find a transgression against any divine law?

Basically, gambling is just math. Is doing math a sin?

Yes, yes it is. Among the major Abrahamic religions gambling is an insult to God since you are putting your faith in chance rather than God.It is also sometimes considered usury.
Don't worry though, many of the things you do everyday are considered abominations. Things like eating anything from the water without fins. Or failing to shave the head of a woman without a veil. We live in a time when you can do whatever you want and easily find another person who thinks God is fine with that.

Gambling is not even mentioned in the entire bible, it is not a sin.

Leviticus 16:8, “And Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for the Lord and the other lot for the scapegoat."

1 Chronicles 25:8, "And they cast lots for their duties, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the pupil."

Psalm 22:18, "They divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots."

Matthew 27:35, "And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves by casting lots."

Acts 1:26, "And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles."

In the bible it is called "casting lots". Which is a religious act because the believers do not think randomness is possible. God determines the outcome of a gamble.  Not that I believe any of these things.

A lot is a PORTION, not gambling.

Casting lots means granting/determining portions.

False religions tend to.. there are many aspects and conditions to do with gambling that can make it a sin.. but gambling itself. Doubtful.
Every step you make, every breath you take, is a gamble.

To gamble is to have faith in an outcome that you cannot prove. It is no different than having faith in testament.

No religion specifically condemn gambling or lottery. They have not given any specific command to avoid it. Religions calls excess greed a sin not gambling. It becomes sinful to person who becomes addicted to it and put gambling before the basic needs and start losing every belonging.

It depends how much religious you are and what your religion says about gambling, i don't think it is sin because it okay for me and i am enjoying my life there with this way, in many ways gambling creates a lot of problem that it can be wrong but i can.t say it is sin.

What are you talking about? Where are your proofs? I am expert on Christianity and I can tell you for sure that there is NOTHING in The Bible about gambling being a sin.
In fact in Old Testament we have multiple instances of gambling showed - as completely neutral practice, it is never condemned.
And in New Testament Apostles draw lots to find out who will be a new apostle after Judas Iscariot suicide.

As was said above, some religions consider it a sin. Everything that make you addicted isn't good. We need balance in our lifes. Too much food, too much work, too much goodness... Nothing too much is good.

But I believe there is no problem on gambling, for me it's not a sin, just need to know when to stop to don't lose everything on it.

It will be only sin if you are losing to much money with it and that is because there are still a lot of people that is addicted to it and can be bad for the most.
Because they even be poor of it and that is bad for the most people if they cant stop gambling.

If you are losing your hard earned money than it is sin, if you are winning huge amount without doing any hard work than you have totally different about gambling, gambling for fun it is okay don't put religion in it, for me gambling is not a sin because i am profitable with gambling and it going nice there.
