I left him a neg so nobody else tries to trade with him, recommend you do the same OP.  At least he put some effort into getting a similar address, more than half the scammers here can say Roll Eyes

The account that is linked ,I mean the screenshot, doesn't exists as well.I tried checking through the default trusted and the highly trusted members ,the closest I came across was Mitchell with 147 dark green, basically the scammer has photo-shopped everything on the profile.Including his email.

He even went through the trouble of generating a look-alike Bitcoin vanity address while managing to capitalize my name incorrectly.  I hear there's been someone impersonating me on IRC as well as Skype recently.  Always make sure you're getting my escrow address from a source like a PM or post of mine where you can easily identify it is mine by the ~500 trust rating.  Probably not a bad idea to add my address to your address book if you are ever planning to use my services.  That way if you overlook and paste the wrong address, my name won't come up.

I guess I should be flattered that I have a forum dingleberry.

Worst scam attempt!
He tried to make a vanity address starting with 168WXh to look genuine.
But remember that every escrower will send group message to the buyer and seller during an escrow deal.

That is why I always ask for pgp signed message rather than signing from bitcoin address.

Considering the person is impersonating you, and you are in DT, shouldn't you tag him?

Must be your trust settings, DT only shows ~300 rating.

Wow he must really want to scam people with the fact that he spend his time to create an almost identical bitcoin address Tongue
Good think our PM system has newbie warning on it Tongue
How long do you think it takes to generate an address starting with 168WXh?

Not that long, actually... oclvanitygen would generate that in a very short time, depending on your GPU

I'd rather educate users than waste my time trying to stop scammers.  One can be done, the other is an exercise in futility.  You have to rely on the community for such things, as by the time I've heard about an impersonator, the scam attempt has already been made.  It's the first contact users that need to be educated.

I use the default trust settings, but I've got a much larger trust network than you, so I imagine that is what is causing you to see me as less trusted.

How long do you think it takes to generate an address starting with 168WXh?

It would take me a matter of seconds.  Probably wouldn't take an outrageous amount of time to get the last part to match my ifMe as well.  That is why users shouldn't rely on what looks right, and should use a fool proof method like making sure you get the address from a trusted source.
