If loglow peels the coins, redeems all BTC on it and then sells the emty coin + the peeled hologram + ANACS case he might get a nice price for it because it has a nice story  Grin

The problem is to open the slab you have to bust it up quite a bit. I have cracked probably 40 slabs so far  Shocked

Then he includes the broken ANACS slab  Grin and maybe try to keep the labels in one piece.

They come apart pretty well. I can post a pic of a recently cracked slab if you would like to see one? I clip off the bottom corners then pry them open with a screw driver.

Cool.  Do your best to get a nice clean peel and place it back on the coin as smoothly as you can please.  Smiley

Done. It peeled off very smoothly and went back on nice and flat.

Well, that's a shame.  I would have offered more if you were showing that you had interest.

That said, it means there is one less coin making the rest more rare.  Thank you.

Strangely, you will probably get close to the same value by the peeling and selling the blank.
Also, going the route you did is far more safe and less time consuming.  Smiley

You're welcome Wink I think this puts the number of unopened 2011 25BTC coins at (or just below) 200.

To be honest, it wasn't my favorite Casascius coin, I always found it a bit large and gaudy. I'm not so much into the bling of reflective gold. But it certainly does have that "used in pictures by the media" appeal. I also wasn't so fond of shipping and insuring an item with that much value.

Anyway, I have a handful of other unopened & graded Cas coins that I like more, and plan to keep.

Blazed, thanks for the info and picture!

I ended up using a pull saw and it worked pretty well. I sawed off the bottom edge with two shallow angle cuts, then was able to cleanly split the case up along its sides to pull it apart wide enough to slide the coin (and its plastic ring) out. What's especially nice is that it left the remaining part of the slab in one piece and the top labels totally sealed and undisturbed.

Just out of curiosity, why did you crack open that MS-64 error coin (the one pictured)?
