So I stay pretty updated on this topic because Google Chrome stalks me and always recommends me "news" on Bitcoins. Recently these past weeks I have seen an increase of negative articles covering some Bitcoin issues relating to transaction speed and fees.

The "big banks", the "middle men" and anything else between cost HOW MUCH MORE TO USE vs BITCOIN?

Did anyone even think to look up the math on this? Bitcoin is EXACTLY where it needs to be right now!

Do you want to send $100 worth to someone instantly? Pay a higher fee to do so. Don't like it? Compare other rates (banks, middlemen, etc.) and I will see you come crawling back begging and saying sorry.

It is time for Bitcoin to stop undercutting itself and start profiting to build the market bigger than the banks.

Stop being so afraid that everything evil is taking over Bitcoin! CONTINUE to ignore negative attention and false assumptions against this product of the future.

--

Several guys I buy Bitcoin from all have different transactions speeds in which I receive a confirm.

The first two guys use the "default fee" while the third and preferred guy to buy from uses a slightly higher fee.

The difference? Up to an HOUR for the first 2 and 1-2 MINUTES for the preferred.

Maybe you should experiment yourself and RATE BITCOIN ON PERFORMANCE vs fees of existing technology. (the banks and middlemen you idiot!)

Good luck!

I'm not sure where you live but sending 100 bucks from one bank account to another costs zero fee in my country. Holding the bank account is free too. So how should i explain why bitcoin needs higher fees now?

It's different when it comes to sending over country borders but rarely i get to know a person that needs to do this regularly.

The other advantage is the speed of course. But how long until we have fees like paypal have?

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Free banking and instant transfers where I'm at too. People at large won't give a shit how secure and decentralised anything is if it costs them significant money when alternatives are free.

Free here in the UK too.

We have the "faster payments" system, bank to bank transfers now take seconds with zero fees.

With regard to using bitcoin people keep mentioning how cheap transaction fees are but they forget to mention the spread when buying and selling.

Take a look on local bitcoins, e.g you buy at +5% when dealing with a reliable trader and sell at -5%

In Canada it's $1.50 to send an interac e-transfer, regardless of the amount.  And that's from my "no fee" account, which is in fact free.

Most big banks will only give you free transactions (and a limited number at that) if you keep at least a minimum amount in the account - something like $1000+.

Up to $14k in the UK (£10k USD equivalent). Not instant, though - it takes up to two hours.

here in the netherlands sending money from one bank to the other is also free. holding a bank account is not free here. it costs between €1-€2 per month for normal bank accounts. bank accounts for business purposes are more expensive. if you send money from bank (a) before 2pm, then the money will show up before 5pm in bank (b). if it's done after 2pm, then it will post the next working day. if you send money to the same bank, then it will post instantly.

deutesche bank, with their debit card is completel free for everything, minus wire transfer for another country, but you can always send to another deutesche bank, with zero cost, if thye have some of those bank abroad...

but bitcoin anyway, allow you to move big funds, without anyone breaking your door and asking you why you transfered 10k+ of money, this is a big plus for me

Recently these past weeks I have seen an increase of negative articles covering some Bitcoin issues relating to transaction speed and fees.
/snip

these articles and coverage are a two fold attack.
first is to make it seem like there's a problem and you shouldn't use bitcoin.
the second more pressing issue is that there should be reform and "fixing" the problems.
the goal of this is to destroy bitcoin as you know it.

nothing good will come out of changing the basic nature of bitcoin.

BITCOIN IS PERFECT JUST AS IT IS!

Many bank accounts are free in Germany, and some checking accounts even offer you interest rates and other advantages. You even have the right to a bank account in Germany now, even if you are homeless and have no income. Just look around. Use google. With sepa transfers you can send money anywhere in the EU within one day, by default free of charge!

there are only a handful of middle sized banks that offer a free bank account which usually have some kind of drawback.

at the bigger banks you pay in average 10-30++ € pa. depending on your account. ( "Kontoführungsgebühren")
