Well if i could get them that price for a 6 core i would however cant get them at that price in UK not a chance of that happening any time soon. Is that a true 6 cores tho or 4 core with 2 unlocked using hyper ?

If it's really just a media center only, you don't need much. I had an Athlon X2 7750 2.7GHz system 1GB that decoded blu-ray and ATSC just fine.

Agreed, seems like a x4 would be a bit of an overkill for an HTPC

I got an Athlon II X3 for sale. I used it until I upgraded to a FX-8120. The Athlon II is the same as the Phenom II just without the L3 cache. 3 cores at 3.1GHz was plenty fast for HD video, moderate gaming, and anything else.
