I guess they needed the extra power since they hash a bit more then the Rev 1 ?

it is at least 5db more.

 I have one set at
 freq 500
 fan 55

it gives higher hash  and is louder.


I will do some fan tests the next weekend.

I just ordered x2 of the FFC1212DE fans from eBay and will post up once they arrive and I have them installed.

I'm watching carefully the discussion about louder fans.  One of the big selling points for me (and my wife) was the quiet since right now I'm "winter mining" inside the house to squeeze some last profit out of my miners.  It is a little disappointing to hear the fan was revised, but at the same time I would much rather have a v2 model with a higher hash rate than a v1 with a quiet fan.  My miners will be moving back to the garage in less than two months anyway.  The new fan can't be any louder than my SP20s are right now (at least I hope not)!

Out of curiosity, what voltage and hash rate can I expect in the GUI with a multimeter reading of 12.42V?  The basic modification for my HP HSTNS-PL11 supply only goes to just a little below 12.45V, so I'm curious if it is worth additional reverse engineering of the supply to find another 0.1V range or if I'm only looking at 20GH or so difference at that end of the adjustment range.

BTW, I shot and edited some howto video for modifying the HSTNS-PL11 for use with an Avalon6 that I will upload to YouTube after I get one last shot with the supply attached to the miner.  Actually, I'm thinking about making it the first video of a mining channel if there is any interest.

leave it at 12.45 it is a safe voltage. you should be near 3650 with 12.45

Yeah the new Fan is clearly not as good as the first one sound wise.

I'm going to replace it.

The pinch isn't cool (Not that bad but still) vs the Rev 1.

Actually, I had a surprise tonight while preparing things for tomorrow.  I had a poor probe connection when I took the reading (it shows up in the video too)-- the max voltage I was getting from the supply was really 12.62V, not 12.45V!  With a range from 11.5V to 12.6V these supplies are almost perfect for the application.  I'm annotating the video to correct the error.

I'm running shorter PCI-E leads (only 8 inches), so I'll probably not need the full 12.55 to get 12.2 in the UI (less loss in the cabling).  I'll see tomorrow.

My Rev 2 is showing 12.1-12.2 and my Rev 1 11.9-12 with the same 4K IBM PSU showing 12.13V at the voltmeter.

They made a change with the voltage control in the Rev 2, not sure i'm going to push the voltage anymore.

Rev1: 3419 GH/S
Rev2: 3784 GH/S

IMO, it's really a good miner.
